What is Plant-Based Foods?
Plant-based foods are foods that come primarily from plants. Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds and they form the foundation of diets that minimise or exclude animal products.
They’re celebrated for being nutrient-rich, environmentally sustainable, and adaptable to different lifestyles, from flexitarian to fully vegan.
Examples:
- Legumes (chickpeas, beans, peas and lentils) provide plant protein and essential amino acids
- Leafy green and cole crop vegetables for calcium and other nutrients
- Nuts and seeds provide healthy fats
- Whole grains offer essential amino acids, iron and zinc
- A variety of fruits and veggies so you don't eat the same things every meal and every day, ensuring you'll get a mix of vitamins and minerals.
Eating plants is not about restriction, it’s about abundance. Colours, flavours, and nutrients that nourish body and planet alike.
