Thank you so much for the opportunity to spend time at the Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital, Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. I truly appreciated the warm welcome and the chance to share an overview of Paediatrics and Child Health at Tygerberg Hospital/Stellenbosch University. It was a pleasure meeting such fantastic people, and I’m excited about the potential for future research collaborations.

The SAPA Congress was truly remarkable, hosted at a breathtaking venue, and, as always, it was filled with valuable insights and experiences. Our Stellenbosch team was well represented by registrars, consultants, and our Head of Department. We proudly showcased:
-Two poster presentations
-Four research presentations by registrars
-Consultant presentations that highlighted our team's excellence.
A huge congratulations to Peter for winning the award for best oral presentation at SAPA 2025! Additionally, kudos to all the other presenters—Tygerberg was exceptionally represented, and each of you made us proud!

We had the privilege to be part of the special olympics pediatric screening today. Past and present members of the pediatric department joined and had lots of fun. Thank you to Dr Angeline Thomas and her team for all the hard work!!

Prof Schaaf, we are very proud of you and thankful for everything that you have imparted to us.

Prof Simon Schaaf, emeritus professor at Stellenbosch University, has spent over 45 years transforming the treatment of childhood drug-resistant TB. His pioneering research has shaped WHO guidelines and improved outcomes for countless young patients worldwide. A day to remember at the first ever African Neonatal Association congress in Kigali, Rwanda...5 years in the making! Launch of the association's strategic plan and journal of neonatology. And the launch of the Partnership for Accelerating Newborn Survival Across Africa (PANSAA). What a privilege to be here with this committed and passionate group of newborn advocates. Presenting the paediatric/neonatology department is Prof Kali, Prof Dramowski, Dr Satardien and Dr Holgate.
