Our Annual Departmental Iftaar was held on 9/3/26 hosted by Synergy at the BMRI. Everyone joined in to break fast with Muslim colleagues showing unity in our multicultural department. The evening was enjoyed by all - especially the children! Our thanks to Kate and for hosting our Iftaar!

We had a lovely peadiatric welcoming function this morning. 2025 was a huge success with 2 PhD, 3 MPhil, 14 MMed and 274 publications and a book chapter. Welcome to all the new staff. May 2026 be a great year.

Medical students often have multiple clinical sessions each week that require a clean pair of scrubs every time. They need at least three to four pairs, but many can only afford one or two.
Staff from the Paediatric and Child Health Department therefore donated good-quality used scrubs to the Tygerberg Pantry Project (TPP) today. These scrubs will be available alongside the food and non-perishable goods that this project already provides to those in need.
Here is Mr Ngoedi, a representative of the TPP, with the donation. Thank you, wonderful Paeds staff!🤩

Thank you to Dr Mareli Niewoudt for the fun mural she painted for one of the paediatric wards! Mareli is also finishing her registrar time soon and we wish her all the best for the future. We will think of you everytime we walk past Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria.
