My husband and I are in Leipzig for two days enjoying each other’s company. We are at the Monument of the Battle of Nations. Whilst sitting here just witnessing the monument and water. A little reminder for me today was to breathe and take in the moment as my mind started to run to what’s next… I had to pause breathe and the affirmation that came to mind was be here, be now, be present. Wherever you are maybe this is a reminder to you to enjoy your present moment. 💛🌻

I shared something that helped me yesterday—but I want to be honest about something.

I didn’t stick to it perfectly.

There were days I stopped, days I skipped it, and days where everything felt like too much.

Instead of giving up, I come back to it.

And that’s what makes the real difference - not doing it perfectly, but starting again.

Over time, those small, imperfect efforts help my nervous system feel safer, and things slowly begin to shift.

You don’t have to get it right every day. Just keep coming back when you can.

If this resonates, save this and follow along, this is part of a series.

We’re often told to breathe, rest, or take a break, but sometimes that just doesn’t feel like enough.

It doesn’t have to be everything, just what works for you.

Those small steps can help your system feel safe again.

Sometimes burnout doesn’t just leave you feeling tired, it can make you feel like you’ve lost yourself.

When your nervous system has been under stress for a long time, it doesn’t just affect your energy. It starts to affect how you feel about yourself and how you show up in the world.

You might feel more irritable or withdrawn. You may notice your self-talk becoming more critical.

And your mind keeps searching for answers:
“How do I feel better?”
“How do I get my motivation back?”

Deep down, you just want to feel like yourself again, to enjoy life, connect with others, and have the energy to do the things you care about.

Right now, that might feel out of reach.

But this isn’t a personal failure. It’s your nervous system responding to prolonged overwhelm.

The good news is that your nervous system can learn to feel safe again. And when it does, motivation, clarity, and joy can begin to return, without forcing or pushing yourself.

If this resonates, follow along - this is part of a series on supporting your nervous system through burnout.

When life feels like a mountain… too much to handle.

It can start in small ways, like procrastination. Not because you don’t want to get things done, but because your nervous system is exhausted.

Even simple tasks begin to feel overwhelming.

Then suddenly, everything feels urgent, messages to reply to, work to finish, responsibilities to keep up with and anxiety starts to rise.

You can go from feeling tired to feeling anxious very quickly.

It becomes a confusing mix of being wired and exhausted at the same time.

On top of that, guilt shows up for the things you haven’t done. Shame appears through the thoughts in your mind. Fear of failure or rejection can start to build.

It all layers up until life feels incredibly heavy - like climbing a mountain.

But this isn’t who you are. It’s your nervous system trying to cope and survive.

You’re not failing - you’re trying to function while your system feels unsafe.

If this resonates, save this and follow along - this is part of a series on understanding your nervous system.

When life feels like a mountain… too much… It doesn’t start all at once. Sometimes it starts off as procrastination. Not because you don’t care, but because your nervous system is exhausted. Even the smallest things in life start to feel overwhelming. Then suddenly… everything feels urgent. Messages, work, responsibilities - and the anxiety spikes. 🥺 you go from tired… to anxious… to overwhelmed. Like you’re wired and exhausted at the same time. Then comes the guilt and the shame, the fear of failure and fear of letting people down. And it all piles up… until life feels like a mountain. This isn’t who you are - your nervous system is trying to survive. You’re not failing. You’re trying to function when your system is feeling unsafe. And then comes the guilt… and the shame.

You finally stop to rest because you know you need to, but almost immediately, your thoughts start racing:
“I should be doing more.”

Not long after, shame follows:
“I’m not good enough.”

And it spirals from there.

This is something many people experience when their nervous system has been under stress for too long. Even rest can start to feel uncomfortable.

You might want to connect with people, do things you enjoy, or just feel a bit lighter, but everything feels exhausting. Even thinking about it can feel overwhelming.

Over time, this can turn into numbness, sadness, and a heavy sense of helplessness, like you’ll never catch up or be enough.

But this isn’t a personal failure. It’s your body trying to manage more than it can handle right now.

If this resonates, save this post and follow along to learn more about your nervous system - this is part of a series.

Ever feel like you don’t want to do anything… but you still have to?

This is one of the most confusing and frustrating parts of burnout.

Your nervous system is starting to shift into a freeze mode - your energy drops, motivation disappears, and everything feels like effort.

But life doesn’t pause. Responsibilities are still there.

So instead of resting, you override your system. You keep thinking, pushing, and showing up, even though part of you is slowing down.

That’s why you can feel exhausted, but also wired, anxious, or even irritable at the same time.

It can feel like you’re stuck between two states: one part of you wants to stop, and another part feels like you can’t.

And that alone is exhausting.

If this resonates with you, follow along - I’ll help you make sense of what’s going on in your body.

Burnout isn’t just about doing too much... it’s about what’s happening in your nervous system.

When you’ve been stuck in fight or flight for a long time, constantly pushing and holding everything together, your system eventually runs out of capacity.

Over time, it starts to feel unsafe sustaining that level of stress. So it moves into freeze, a protective response designed to conserve energy.

This is when your energy drops, motivation disappears, and even simple things can feel overwhelming.

The confusing part? Life doesn’t stop. You may still be showing up every day, while your body is actually trying to slow you down.

That’s why burnout can feel like anxiety and exhaustion at the same time.

If you want to understand your nervous system more deeply, follow along - this is part of a series.

Emotional regulation starts with your nervous system.

When we feel calm and safe, it’s easier to manage emotions and respond thoughtfully. When we’re stressed or overwhelmed, emotions can feel more intense and we’re more likely to react quickly.

Today, try noticing your responses:
Are you reacting automatically, or responding with awareness?

Even a small pause can make a difference 💭
