Today I’m sharing two very special photos from 10 years ago — little Reece at his daycare event.
In one picture he’s crying on his daycare mom’s arm (whom he absolutely adored), and in the other he’s holding onto his dad for dear life. Those moments remind me just how far we have come.
Back then, adapting wasn’t easy. New places were overwhelming. New faces were too much. And transitions felt impossible.
But today… today Reece is 13, autistic, brave, and incredible. You would never say how hard those early days were — how big every small step felt.
What these pictures show is not just a little boy who struggled, but a champion who overcame, slowly, gently, and in his own beautiful way.
And they also remind me of the perseverance it takes as parents — showing up, being patient, learning, unlearning, crying a bit, praying a lot, and celebrating every milestone no matter how big or small.
To every parent on a similar journey:
Keep going.
Your child is growing, even when it feels slow.
They are adapting, even when it looks messy.
And they are becoming who God made them to be — in their own time, in their own way.
Reece, we are so proud of you. 💙
Thank you for teaching us strength, love, and resilience. You truly are our champion.
