Green Roadshow: Heritage Month Edition

Friday, 26 September 2025
YWC House, Oude Molen Eco Village, Pinelands
09h30 – 13h00

This Heritage Month, the Green Roadshow arrives at YWC Sport & Jazz Foundation in the historic Oude Molen Eco Village—a space where heritage, ecology, and community meet.

Hosted by IFAA & weRagency in collaboration with Soil for Life, the event invites you to reimagine waste as a resource, building a circular economy through composting, agro-processing, and sustainable urban practices.

The morning's programme will include:

• A keynote presentation by Rod Solomons of YWC Sport & Jazz Foundation on the historical significance of Oude Molen Eco Village—a site that has transformed from a derelict hospital complex into a hub of ecological and social innovation.

• An insightful session with Cindy Knowles from weRagency, who will share her deep expertise on the medicinal and nutritional properties of indigenous plants. She will demonstrate how to identify and forage these plants in our local surroundings, and show how they can be used as powerful ingredients to create a variety of delicious, healthful foods.

• A practical composting demonstration by Natasha de Leeuw from Soil for Life, offering hands-on guidance to turn kitchen and garden waste into rich, life-giving soil.

• A guided tour of the village's eco-projects, showcasing organic food gardens, community enterprises, and biodiversity spaces.

• The big reveal of a new addition to the YWC House eco-project—an inspiring step toward sustainability and heritage preservation.

Join us for a transformative morning that honours the past, celebrates community resilience, and plants seeds for a sustainable future. The event will conclude with refreshments featuring a local indigenous slant that celebrates our heritage.

Everyone's welcome. Bring a friend, bring your curiosity.
