Occupational Therapy is about enabling people to live active, balanced, and meaningful lives.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the Wings for Life World Run alongside my family —an event that brought together many aspects of my life: my work as an OT, my husband’s work, parenting, and my personal love of running (and ice cream!).

The Wings for Life World Run is a remarkable Red Bull initiative raising funds for spinal cord injury research — a cause closely aligned with the OT profession’s commitment to restoring function and quality of life.

Along for the ride! 

This sweet, little puppy sat happily between my client's feet during his clinical driving assessment. I can already picture her, a bit older, with her head out the window, tongue out, ears flapping in the wind, loving the open road alongside her owner—once he's driving his new car with hand controls.

The DFC is excited to be hosting this practical on-road assessment workshop! This in person course will focus on the various practical aspects of conducting an on-road assessment as part of your CDE!
Please note: participants need to have completed either the in-person or e-learning Level 2 On-road assessment courses to be eligible to attend this course to ensure optimal application of theory in practice. Register at www.driverfitness.co.za.

It was a pleasure to share my experience of developing the CoDriS and COMMA at the OTASA Congress yesterday. I am grateful for the positive feedback and for the enthusiasm from OTs to use the assessment tools in their practice. Thank you to OTASA for providing a platform for OTs to share the exciting research and work that is being done and for discussing the ethical integration of AI in our practice.
