South African Council of Churches Western Cape HIV & AIDS SAVE Campaign SAVE is a comprehensive HIV prevention methodology with the primary objective of preserving lives and promoting sustainable livelihoods for all.

The South African Council of Churches in the Western Cape (SACC WC) in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC), as part of implementing their advocacy strategy with respect to the response of the religious sector to the various challenges of HIV and AIDS, adopted forming strategic networks and partnerships to collaborate on rolling out the SAVE campaign. SAVE is an abbreviation which stands for Safer practices (A+B=C=PMTC+ Safe blood + Safe injections + Safe circumcision), Access to treatment (STIs + Art + nutrition + clean water), Voluntary testing and counseling (regular counseling, stigma issues and treatment), and Education and Empowerment (gender justice + policies + sex, sexuality rights (SRHR). SAVE is a comprehensive HIV prevention methodology that was developed by INERELA+ (International Network of Religious Leaders living with or personally affected by HIV/AIDS) wherein all sectors, particularly the religious sector, are mobilized to work together with fellow stakeholders in society to prevent the spread and impact of HIV, with the primary objective of preserving lives and promoting sustainable livelihoods for all.
