What is occupational therapy?
Children learn through play by exploring and discovering new things. Occupational therapy uses meaningful activities to help clients to be as independent as possible while experiencing quality of life at school, at home and while playing. Occupational therapy for school-going children focuses on the child's educational goals and can support academic goals (e.g. handwriting and literacy) or functional goals (e.g. manipulating and organizing materials). Learners experiencing delays in learning or who struggle with functional tasks have the opportunity through occupational therapy to catch up with the other learners in the class developmentally as well as academically.
