This is one of the most common things athletes come to me with. They want to feel leaner, move more efficiently, or drop a few kilograms before a race. 👀

Here’s my approach:

I wouldn’t cut carbs. I wouldn’t skip meals around training. And I definitely wouldn’t try to do it in the middle of a heavy block.

What I would do is create a small deficit on the days it won’t cost me anything (rest days, easy sessions) and protect every single thing that makes hard training possible.

Because I’ve seen what happens when athletes chase body composition the wrong way. Performance drops, energy crashes, and they end up worse off than when they started.

There’s a smarter way to do it. One that works with your training, not against it.💛

The supplement industry conned you into believing you need a full stack before your workout. All you actually need to start? Carbs. 🍌

For most athletes, you’re aiming for 30–60g of carbs in the hour before a session. A large banana, two slices of toast, yoghurt with fruit, or even gummies. Carbs are carbs when it comes to fuelling a session.

Timing matters too. Eating 30–60 minutes out, keep it low in fat, fibre, and protein so digestion doesn’t slow you down right when you need to feel sharp. Two hours out, you’ve got more flexibility to add protein and make it a small meal.

Pop me a DM find out more about nutrition coaching and how to build a fuelling strategy that actually works for your training. 📩

You’re fuelling every workout but still feel tired. 😴

You’re eating your pre-workout meal, hitting your post-workout protein, drinking your supps... but you’re still dragging through sessions and barely staying awake by 3pm.

Here’s what’s actually happening:
⭐️ You’re fuelling FOR your workouts but undereating the other 22 hours of the day.
⭐️ Your body doesn’t just need energy for that one training hour - it needs energy to RECOVER from it, rebuild tissue, regulate hormones, and you know... keep you alive. 🔋

This is the trap I see constantly:
➡️ Dial in workout nutrition ✅
➡️ Ignore baseline needs ❌

You’re eating like an athlete for 90 minutes and like you’re on a diet the rest of the day. Your body is exhausted because it’s running on fumes trying to repair what you just broke down in the gym. 💨

The fix isn’t more pre-workout. It’s eating consistently across ALL meals. Breakfast that actually fuels you. Lunch that doesn’t leave you starving by 2pm. Dinner that supports recovery. 🍽️

Start eating like you’re supporting an active body 24/7, not just 60 minutes in the gym. 💪

Wanting it is easy. Actually doing it? That’s where most people get stuck. 👀

And honestly, I get it, life gets busy, motivation comes and goes, and it’s way easier to say “I’ll start Monday” than to make one small change today.

The truth is, the people who see results aren’t the ones who want it the most. They’re the ones who show up anyway even when it’s inconvenient, even when it’s slow, even when it’s not perfect. 🤝

Drop a 🙋🏻‍♀️below if this hit home, and let me know, what’s the ONE thing you’re committing to this week?

Look, I know what I’m asking you to do might sound backwards. Add carbs? Eat before training? Increase calories when you’re scared to? It probably contradicts a lot of what you’ve tried before. 👀

But if what you were doing was working… you wouldn’t be here.

📣 Getting results isn’t about finding a “better” version of the same old approach. It’s about being willing to try something different, even when it feels uncomfortable, slower than you’d like, or a little counterintuitive at first.

That’s exactly why discovery calls matter so much.

It’s not just a chat about goals and systems. It’s a space to see if we actually click. If you feel like you can trust me. If we can be honest with each other when something feels hard or isn’t working.

Because without trust, this doesn’t work.

And when we have it? That’s when everything shifts. 🤝✨
