As we approach Easter, a holy period for some. We have to reflect on what transpired around that fateful time. A betrayal, a lack of unity and eventually the killing of a prophet (in my belief system). One has to ask what would have happened if there had been unity in the midst of the followers, if there had been a collective uprising and protection of the one ordained as the messenger of God.

Today we stand facing a genocide and we write about it, we speak about it, but is it enough. We need to foster greater unity amongst humankind. This is beyond a religion. The oppressor will bar Christians from performing Easter rituals this weekend. As they bomb and kill the Muslims, many churches and this is indiscriminate killing of a race of people.

How do we as one of billions make a difference. We can add our economic power to the fight, do not buy anything Israeli and do not support any businesses that support the oppressor. We can start asking for sanctions and we can ask for an end to weapons export to Israel.

Make your voice heard, let this be the way you celebrate Easter.

Tonight I am exceptionally of my friend, brother and now Poet. Azgher Karjieker had his book launch tonight. The book titled Bard'L Hajj, is a collection of his poems penned while oh Hajj Last year. Inspirational to say the least, filled with vivid pictures and raw emotion it takes you on the journey of Hajj and evokes memories like none before it.
