Great news for the UK ...

Is it time for the rest of the world to follow the UK’s lead?

A major win for public health as new regulations have officially come into force to protect children from the excessive marketing of unhealthy foods.

The country is taking a massive step forward in the fight against childhood obesity with:
❌ No more TV adverts for food high in fat, salt, or sugar before 9 PM
❌ Paid-for online junk food ads are now prohibited at all times

The ban is estimated to remove 7.2 billion calories from children's diets annually and prevent around 20,000 cases of childhood obesity. This is by no means the end goal, rather “a move in the right direction” says Katherine Brown, professor of behavior change in health at University of Hertfordshire.

Health Minister Ashley Dalton notes this is about "making the healthy choice the easy choice for parents and children."
