Our rope access team successfully completed descending operations on the hanger cable at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, ensuring critical corrosion protection work was carried out safely and efficiently.

The process began with thorough degreasing and high-pressure washing to remove salts and surface contaminants. Mechanical surface preparation followed, eliminating all loose debris and corrosion (rust) to ensure a clean, stable substrate.

Once preparation was complete, the hanger cable was professionally wrapped to provide long-term protection and prevent future corrosion.

✅ The project was completed successfully, safeguarding the structural integrity and extending the service life of the hanger cable.

The Southey Contracting Mondi Richards Bay team recently completed a successful annual shutdown at the Mondi plant. Delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Another strong example of teamwork, precision and commitment to excellence in action.

We don’t just view safety as something with a sign on the wall. It’s an active daily practice, even in the most extreme conditions.

During our recent site shutdown, our team faced grueling temperatures exceeding 40°C. To ensure everyone remained focused and hydrated, we held a "Pause and Reflect" session with all 140 employees. This wasn't just a break. It was a collective commitment to accountability and care for one another.

As a result, and despite the challenging environmental pressures, the team achieved zero injuries.

To recognize this incredible commitment to a Zero Harm culture, our site leadership issued Powerade, chocolates, and chips to the team, a small token of appreciation for a massive achievement in safety.

Leadership means showing up for your team when the heat is on. When we prioritize people over the pace of work, everyone goes home safe. 🤝
