“What started out as fatigue and a scratchy throat which I attributed to ‘just being post call’ ended up being Covid. Unfortunately I did not have mild symptoms. Fortunately I recovered.

Just a reminder during Mental Health Awareness Month: taking care of your physical health is also part of taking care of your mental health!👀

A quote which really motivated me during the difficult time: ‘Self care isn’t just drinking water and going to sleep early. Self care is taking a break when things becomes overwhelming, saying no to things you do not want to do, allowing yourself to cry, asking for help from those around you, doing things that make you happy.’

Currently I am rotating in Internal Medicine. I still work with and test a number of positive patients every day and the numbers keep on rising. My wish is that people will stay vigilant and still take this disease seriously.”

Through the chaos, I have seen soo many frontline workers’ sacrifice themselves as they uphold their Hippocratic oath to serve, despite all risks involved.
⁣
In the quiet moments, when you feel burnt out, anxious, lonely, overwhelmed or helpless...remember that you are not alone.
⁣
Reach out when your mental health is at stake, debrief after enduring trauma, take breaks to recharge both physically & emotionally. Most importantly, truly check up on the well being of your colleagues.
