Expired medicines may no longer be safe or effective. Keeping them at home increases the risk of accidental poisoning, misuse, or harm to pets and children.
Don’t flush them - this contaminates water systems.
Don’t throw them in the household bin - medications may be found and misused.
Best option: Return expired or unwanted medicines to your local pharmacy. Pharmacists have systems in place to dispose of medication safely, protecting both people and the environment.
Stay safe. Protect your community.

For more information on the safe disposal of medication, please contact our Pharmacists or Life Bedford Gardens Hospital on 011 677 8500 cor send an email to chantelle.duplessis@lifehealthcare.co.za

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is when the pressure that blood places on blood vessels is higher than normal or necessary. Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it. These could be warning signs.
Hypertension often goes unnoticed until it causes harm.
Symptoms that can indicate hypertension include but are not limited to:
▪ persistent dull headaches
▪ bloodshot eyes
▪ random nosebleeds
A diagnosis should always be made by a healthcare professional by monitoring your blood pressure regularly.
Know your numbers. Get your blood pressure checked and stay in control.
