[PICS] In anticipation of (24 March), Tshepang Clinic led by Operational Manager Thobile Mthembu launched a successful three-day awareness initiative today. Held at the main pharmacy’s repeat prescription area, the event was a collaborative effort between clinic staff and pharmacists to promote early detection and public education.A health talk on TB was delivered, and informational pamphlets were distributed to the public. Patients were encouraged to get tested if they experience symptoms such as a cough of any duration, drenching night sweats, coughing up blood, weight loss, fever, and fatigue.
High-risk groups were also highlighted, including people living with HIV, close contacts of TB patients, and individuals with weakened immune systems such as pregnant women, children under 5, the elderly, and healthcare workers. The importance of proper ventilation through the opening of windows was emphasised to the public. Patients were also encouraged to wear face masks in crowded areas to help prevent the spread of TB. During the event, several individuals were screened and tested while pharmacists offered guidance on treatment side effects. The well-received initiative successfully promoted early detection and awareness. The campaign continues with a main event tomorrow and concludes Wednesday with a live broadcast on Ga-Rankuwa FM.
