For World Contact Lens Day Weldon Optical are sharing tips and tricks to keep your eyes and lenses happy.

Proper lens care keeps your eyes healthy, comfortable, and infection-free. Here’s the best cleaning regimen recommended by Weldon Optical:

Step 1: Wash and Dry Your Hands.

· Always start by washing your hands with soap and water.
· Use fragrance-free, lotion-free soap.
· Dry with a lint-free towel to avoid transferring particles to your lenses.

Step 2: Clean Each Lens Individually

· Place one lens in your palm.
· Add a few drops of fresh multi-purpose solution (not water!).
· Gently rub the lens with your fingertip for about 10–20 seconds to remove debris and protein build-up.
· Rinse it again with solution before storing.

Step 3: Use Fresh Solution Every Time

· Fill your clean lens case with fresh solution—never reuse old solution or “top off.”
· Discard used solution every day, even if you didn’t wear your lenses.

Step 4: Keep Your Lens Case Clean

· Rinse it with contact lens solution daily—never use water.
· Leave the case open to air-dry upside down.
· Replace the case every 1 to 3 months to avoid bacterial build-up.

Step 5: Follow the Schedule

· Stick to your wearing schedule (daily, bi-weekly, monthly).
· Never sleep in lenses unless prescribed by your eye doctor—it greatly increases infection risk.

Why test every year? Your eyes can change, even if you don’t notice!

· A yearly eye exam ensures your lenses still fit well.
· Prevents infections and detects early signs of eye issues.
· Keeps your prescription up to date for the best vision possible.
