We are thrilled to announce that Sibanye Special Day Care Centre has officially reopened its doors for 2026. Our beloved children are back, and we are excited to welcome new additions to our Sibanye family! This marks another chapter in our journey of providing care, love, and support to children with special needs.

Furthermore, we encourage all parents, families, and members of the community to visit our centre. This is an opportunity to witness the day-to-day activities that make Sibanye a special place and to learn more about how to care for, guide, and nurture children with special needs. Our doors are always open to those who seek to understand and support our mission.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the parents who are returning and entrusted us once again with the care of their precious children. Your confidence in Sibanye motivates us to continue striving for excellence.

A special thanks goes out to our supportive partners and everyone who has stood by us. Your unwavering support—whether through donations, partnerships, or kind words—has been instrumental in keeping our centre thriving in the previous year.

We’re happy to share that we held our final Parents’ Meeting for 2025 on 16 October. During this important gathering, we came together to reflect on our journey and strategize for the year ahead.

We truly appreciate our parents and guardians for their continued support, dedication, and valuable input. Your partnership plays a vital role in helping us improve and plan effectively for the future of our children.

Today marks 𝟏𝟏 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 Sibanye Special Day Care Centre. What started as a small, passionate effort to provide a safe and loving space for children with special needs has now grown into a home of hope, support, and transformation. 🫶🏾

As we reflect on this journey, we are reminded of the challenges we’ve overcome, the progress we’ve made, and the countless lives we’ve touched — not just the children, but their families, and the wider Makhanda community.

🌟 A Special Visit at Sibanye Special Day Care Centre Today! 🌟

Today was a truly special day at Sibanye Special Day Care Centre as we welcomed a team of dedicated Health Officials, including local Grahamstown nurses, specialist dietitians, and the respected Social Worker Superior, Mrs. Leleki from the Department of Social Development.

Their visit brought not only care and attention but also valuable insight and encouragement for the continued well-being of our children and families. We are deeply grateful for the time, expertise, and love they shared with us today.

🙏 Thank you to all the stakeholders, partners, and supporters who continue to walk this journey with us. Your endless support strengthens our mission and helps us build a more inclusive, nurturing space for children with special needs.

🌞 Garden Fun with Rhodes University Anthropology Department! 🌈

On Saturday, 03 May 2025, our Sibanye children enjoyed a truly special outing at Rhodes University — a fundraising and awareness event hosted by the Anthropology Department. The beautiful garden setting came alive with music, a jumping castle, and cheerful laughter as the little ones played freely and embraced the day with wide smiles and open hearts. 🎶🎈🛝

This event wasn’t just about fun — it was also about creating awareness around children living with disabilities, and the importance of inclusion, visibility, and community support. It gave our children a chance to experience joy and freedom in a new environment — and for many, it was unforgettable. 💫

A big thank you to our dedicated caregivers, who always make sure our children are loved, supported, and safe wherever they go. Your presence makes all the difference. 💚

🌟 Friday Fun at Sibanye Special Day Care Centre 🌟

This past Friday, our little stars at Sibanye Special Day Care Centre were full of energy and smiles as they took part in our weekly activity session! 🧩🎨🎈

At Sibanye, we believe in more than just care — we believe in active engagement. Our fun and stimulating activities are designed to help children living with disabilities develop their motor skills, boost their confidence, encourage social interaction, and simply enjoy the joy of being kids!

💚 These sessions are more than just play — they are a vital part of therapy and learning. Kiddies' activities help our children express themselves, build relationships, and grow in a safe, loving environment tailored to their needs.

Thank you to our caregivers and volunteers who continue to pour love and creativity into every session. Together, we are building a more inclusive, joyful space — one activity at a time! Sibanye! 💫

🌟Sibanye Special Day Care Centre Outing – A Day to Remember!🌟

We’re so excited to finally share a special moment from earlier this month — our first outing of 2025 with our amazing children and their parents!

The heart behind this outing was simple: to enjoy a day away from the centre, allowing our children and their parents to bond, laugh, and create beautiful memories together. Some of our little ones don’t often get opportunities like this, so we wanted to create an inclusive experience for all, one filled with love, joy, and connection.

💛 A huge THANK YOU goes out to:

Assumption Development Centre (Grahamstown) for generously assisting with transportation.

McDonald's for their kind discount, which made our day even brighter.

Mr Athanele Nkole for his generosity and excellent service during our outing with the children and their parents. Transporting us to and from the outing, it was such a pleasure having you with us, and your professional, patient, and friendly approach contributed greatly to the overall success of the day. Thank you for being part of making this special experience a reality for our children and families.

And to every parent, friend, and family member who supported our raffle sheet fundraising initiative, your contributions made this outing possible. We see you, and we are so grateful.

It was also important for us that parents got a chance to see how we interact with their children outside the centre — the love, care, and patience we practice every day.

This outing wasn’t just a trip — it was a celebration of family, community, and the joy of togetherness. 💫

Because of your support, our little ones started their day with full tummies and bright smiles — and our kitchen team could keep everything sparkling clean and safe. 🧼🍽️✨
