Three resins. One tradition that spans thousands of years.
Long before incense came in sticks, before fragrance came in bottles, there were resins. Tree sap, slowly hardened by sun and wind into amber-like crystals — gathered by hand, carried across trade routes, burned in temples, churches, puja rooms and ceremonial spaces from Egypt to the Andes.
Frankincense. Myrrh. Benzoin.
These three have travelled together for millennia, and there is a reason they were never separated.
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) — bright, lemony, uplifting. Traditionally burned to purify a space before ceremony, open the mind to stillness, and carry intention upward through smoke. The ancient Egyptians used it at dawn. The Christian tradition gifted it at the birth of the sacred. In modern practice, it is still the resin of opening — of beginnings and clarity.
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) — earthy, balsamic, quietly bitter. Where frankincense rises, myrrh roots. It has accompanied grief, healing and transformation across cultures for thousands of years — present at both birth and burial in the ancient world, and still burned today by those doing the deeper, slower work of sitting with what is.
Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) — warm, sweet, softly vanilla. Known as loban in South African Hindu tradition and sambrani in Cape Malay practice, benzoin is the resin of comfort and protection. Burned to seal a space after cleansing, to invite abundance, and to soften the atmosphere after the more intense work of purification and grounding.
Together, they form what many traditions call the Three Kings blend — and what we at Secret Sense call The Sacred Resin Trinity.
Each resin is 60g of raw, unprocessed crystal. Burn them separately to understand each one's distinct character. Or place small pieces of all three on a single glowing charcoal disc and experience the full ceremonial blend — the same aroma that has filled sacred spaces across centuries and continents.
These are not incense sticks. They ask a little more of you — a charcoal disc, a heat-safe burner, a few minutes of unhurried presence. In return, they give you something no stick can: smoke that rises slowly, deliberately, entirely from the plant. Nothing synthetic. Nothing added. Just resin, heat, and intention.
The Sacred Resin Trinity is now available in The Realm and online.
