𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🌍

Today, 17 March 2026, we celebrate the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to supporting vulnerable communities, advocating for justice, and strengthening families and societies, our social workers.

This year’s theme is:
“Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society.”

The word Harambee, originating from East Africa, means “all pull together” or “pulling together for the common good.” It represents a powerful spirit of unity, shared responsibility, and collective action where communities come together to uplift one another.

In many ways, Harambee reflects the heart of social work.

Every day, social workers stand alongside individuals and families facing hardship. They help rebuild trust, restore dignity, and create pathways toward hope. Their work reminds us that lasting change happens when people support one another and communities work together.

At SAVF, our social workers embody this spirit daily, walking alongside children, families, the elderly, and vulnerable communities across South Africa.

Today we honour their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to building a society where every person is seen, heard, and supported.

Because when we pull together, we build stronger communities, restore hope, and shape a more just and caring future for all.

We would like to thank Marie from Avbob, who arranged a sponsorship through Avbob, for
Steven Sterling and Ryan Walt to entertain our Residents, with pan flute and singing. What a phenomenal performance this was. Our Residents enjoyed it extremely much.
