Flow Movement, Meditation & Creation
Noordhoek, Cape Town Flow

In life there is a magic at work that defies explanation…

Sometimes things just FLOW. I welcome you.

Your body, mind and emotions are in harmony, there’s a sense of liveliness and possibility, creativity blossoms. But why do we just leave it up to chance, hoping that the heavenly Flow will catch us up in its tingly embrace, when truly it’s up to us to kindle that flame, to dance that dance, to sing that song? To live this life. I invite you to join me in a safe, nurturing space where you can breathe, move and create. This, I believe with my whole heart, is why we live. Let’s share and enjoy our time together. Over an hour session or longer workshops we will engage all facets of our selves. Body: movement in the form of yoga, dance, qi gong, breathwork, etc

Mind: stimulating and informative discussion, writing exercises, visualization, meditation

Emotions: deep listening, relaxation techniques, tapping, art therapy, mindfulness

You bring whatever you need to sort out, celebrate or sit with. We are meeting here to allow our separate streams to flow together and refresh us

Look at this world! I beseech you! Get the pine invasion of this precious endangered land under control. Please!!! What an honour to be guardians of this small magnificent Afromontane & fynbos piece of earth. The situation is so tenuous and in dire need of intervention. Where pine encroaches fynbos cannot survive. You know what you need to do.

I powered through ’s The Wren, The Wren in four days… that’s after hiking the Tsitsikamma Trail for about eight hours a day.
Here pictured with a book in the hand (worth two in the bush?) and a curious Knysna Loerie watching over our human foibles

Such rich writing.
Anne Enright has this extraordinary ability to cut straight to the emotional bone.

She exposes human motivations, familial knots, inherited wounds, trans-generational sh*t…
But it’s also a *really* good time
Promise!

She traces how charisma, abandonment, desire, and damage ripple through our bodies.

It’s about translation (lol…like Babel… which I’m *still* reading & loving but way toooo chonky to carry 60+km!)

Everyone here is trying to make meaning from what they were given and failing and trying again.

There’s also something quietly radical in the way female interiority is rendered without apology or sentimentality.

It’s one of those books that reminds you how much literature can hold when it refuses simplification.

I looooooved it.

I think it’s my fave thus far on my journey🤩

Tsitsikamma Trail ⛰️ 🥾 💚 5 days. 4 nights. 62km. Stats that don’t begin to communicate how these multi-day hikes move the soul. So grateful.

Looks familiar 🪞

Hello, my dear friends,

Before you go to your holiday gathering, or anywhere, take a moment for this simple practice. Visualize everyone being happy and joyful. Bathe every person and the place you are going in beautiful, healing light. See them all smiling.

You are a Love Radiator. Every cell in your body is radiating love, and this love is very powerful. So, put a smile on your face, be a good listener, and appreciate every moment.

Sending many blessings to you and your loved ones,
Chunyi Lin

Reunited with my dear friend Venessa Muller,
last seen two years ago at the Buddhist Retreat Centre, and now miraculously living here in J-Bay.
Best early Xmas pressie 👯‍♀️

As if that weren’t gift enough, she introduced me to , a fab secondhand bookshop (the best hey)…directly across the road from where we’re staying 📚

I didn’t even make it through the doorway before finding four books I’ve been desperate to read 🤤

Add to that laughing till I cried at our J-Bay Padel prowess 🎾 😂 🏆

Long, salty cycle with my son and then the humbling reminder of a strong headwind on the way home 🚲 😅

I had my first nap of 2025 🥳 Rather late than never?!
AND my first frolic in the sea of the summer 👙

Don’t judge me … no fan of cold water 😅
And here in J-Bay it’s definitely warmer than at home 🌊

What joy to boogie board with my son 🏄🏻‍♀️
And to start the day strolling with my mom and daughter under simmering skies 🏖️

Today was a lekker beach day 😎

Thanks dad for this beautiful beach house. There is something so comforting about falling asleep to the sound of the sea. It makes me feel close to my Granny Edwina, queen of Christmas, whose presence is woven into this time of year 🤶🏻

This season always carries both joy and ache ~ the remembering of those who are no longer with us, alongside the warmth of the good times we shared. Perhaps that’s part of the invitation.

Under this Sag New Moon ♐️ 🌚 I’m not setting big resolutions. I’m letting myself rest. And be held by something larger ~ the sea, stories, people we love.

Sometimes the most expansive thing we can do is nap, swim, and remember 💕

Mossel Bay.
Where the coastline holds tens of thousands of years and our own small histories quietly echo back to us.

The cliffs below the Cape St Blaize Lighthouse cradle one of the country’s earliest known human shelters — a cave where Middle Stone Age people once gathered shellfish, leaving traces of coastal life long before maps…or holidays. A place that reminds you how long humans have been coming to the sea for nourishment, shelter and wonder.

The last time I stayed here was August 2020.
Cold evenings.
Two primary school kids.
Bob the sourdough (lockdown… remember THAT 😷)
And the Red Bus was the only eatery open against the stormy winter dark.

Now one child has matriculated.
The other is entering their final year of school.
Bob has gone through way of all things.
And Mossel Bay is bustling.

The “iconic” Point (iconic is now the family running joke 😄… we spotted iconic dassies, etc etc) is packed with caravanners, fishermen, sunburnt joy, towels, rods, laughter.

Ancient cave below.
Lighthouse above.
Family in between.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas
and like one of those moments where past, present and future briefly sit down together by the sea.

All the scrubbing.
All the fetching and carrying.
One step forward, five steps back.

And yet …sweet moments:

Dear hearts, deep conversations, dark chocolate 🍫

Heart-to-hearts with dear ones

Your presence steadied me more than you know 💗💗💗

Unexpected treasures surfaced in the dusty corners ~ children’s artworks, old love letters, a photo of myself on my beloved beach in the 90s …
The one that travelled with me to Afghanistan, LA, Japan and back again.
A reminder of who I’ve been & how far I’ve carried myself.

Dark chocolate from Ghana.
Korean comfort food from .
Sustenance arrives quietly.

Apparently writers shouldn’t cook or clean lolllll
yet, here I am (again 😮‍💨) scrubbing my way toward Airbnb readiness.

I am tired.
There are many challenges.
But I am also grateful
for this home,
for the people in it and around it,
and for the privilege of opening it to others.

I hope they feel the love in the walls.

Turns out the cure for grumpiness is books & giggles with the teens📚

All work and no play has me rather grumpy ☹️

So I kept the diary promise: warehouse sale (on through Wednesday) 📚
just down the road on a hot day was a necessary pairing ⛸️

Proof that a little play can loosen the grip of many stressful horrors 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Very worth the journey.
Very necessary joy.

More delicious additions to my Xmas haul 🎁

Our Story

Flow Something I’ve realized in my life is that there is a magic at work that defies explanation…but I will try anyway. Sometimes things just FLOW. Your body, mind and emotions are in harmony, there’s a sense of liveliness and possibility, creativity blossoms. But why do we just leave it up to chance, hoping that the heavenly Flow will catch us up in its tingly embrace, when actually it’s up to us to kindle that flame, to dance that dance, to sing that song? To live this life. I invite you to join me for grown-up playdates. I have created a safe, nurturing space where you can breathe, move and create. This, I believe with my whole heart, is why we live. Let’s share and enjoy our time together. Over an hour and a half we will engage all facets of our selves. Body: movement in the form of yoga, dance, qi gong, breathwork Mind: stimulating and informative discussion, written exercises, visualization, meditation Emotions: deep listening, relaxation techniques, tapping, collaging, mindfulness To understand what I bring to this party, please see More about Me. You bring whatever you need to sort out, celebrate or sit with. I welcome you. We are meeting here to allow our separate streams to flow together and refresh us. Each lesson will have a theme and no two will be alike, both due to the organic nature of working with a group that brings its own energy as well as my own nature which longs for growth and adventure in covering new ground. For some time I have felt frustrated by boxing phenomenal schools of thought and practice. Each has so much to offer but even more so in combination, I am happiest when working, thinking and playing across disciplines. Come and join me in my beautiful space. Let's flow. When: Mondays & Fridays 8:30 - 10am Tuesdays 6 - 7:30pm

Monthly Saturday workshops Where: San Michel, Noordhoek, Cape Town How much: R100/session, R50 for students, R350/month I am happy to consider other time slots, especially if you would like to bring along some friends, please let me know what would work for you. I am also very keen to work with families and people of all ages, so we can discuss parent-child sessions, teens, couples, or what you will. Flexible flow... Reasons to Flow: Your body was made to move, it’s begging you to do this. Your mind craves some new perspectives. We are spending so much time in closed (social network) circles and in the age of (dis)information our minds have become a tad lazy. Time for some mental spring cleaning. Your heart yearns for something…more. Time to rejuvenate your outlook on life. You want to have fun & feel ALIVE. You might want to have a bit of a cry. Your creative juices need to flow It’s (way) cheaper than therapy I won’t ever push you to do anything, it’s not an ego driven stand on your head kinda thing, but you will still feel challenged, physically & creatively. What to expect: There will likely be some lying down and visualization. I can teach you beautiful relaxation techniques that work wonders for anxiety, insomnia and the like. We can share our stories in various ways, depending on the group’s composition. This may lead to movement, free writing, drawing. There will be a healthy balance between movement and stillness. In and out breaths. I have many wonderful healing modalities to share with you. From falun dafa to working with ancient archetypes. Every session will be a new adventure around a theme. What to bring: Your whole self with all your stuff. Feel free to leave your stuff at the door, along with your shoes. I have a beautiful light filled space near the mountain and overlooking the ocean for you to rest and renew. Comfortable clothes that you can move in and lie on the floor. A yoga mat. Favourite warm & comfy blanket. Pillow. Journal and pen/pencil/quill. More about Me: Hello. I am Charisse. When I was serving at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala, India, I was given the name Chamundi. It is a name associated with the Goddess Kali, a goddess that gives most people pause with her menacing grimace and heaps of victims. It was explained to me that this name was taken from two of her victims – Chanda & Munda -- monsters representing the two extremes of human nature, Rajas and Tamas. The name signifies finding a middle way, that elusive balance we all seek. My early life was characterized by a deep love of literature, spirituality, make-believe, dance, nature and learning. I excelled at school and knew that I would be an academic and a writer, but also that I needed to help people. This led me to studying medicine at the University of Pretoria. However, as someone who eschews medicine entirely in my own life, the fit was not a comfortable one and I followed my bliss to America where I got a BA in Theatre, Film and English. I went on to work in the film industry in Los Angeles and worked in script development on several rather famous movies. On returning to South Africa I lectured at the University of Pretoria in visual communication, film history as well as running film schools all over Gauteng. After meeting and marrying my husband we moved to New York where I got my MA degree at NYU. We then lived in Japan and traveled extensively in Asia. We also lived in Afghanistan where I worked with the only female Afghan health team in the country. It was at this time that I had the great privilege of traveling in India and spent time in many ashrams exploring the various traditions and schools of yoga. Over the years I have meditated in Buddhist temples and served in Ashrams. I have studied all the world religions and have a keen interest in Philosophy. After our time in Afghanistan we returned to South Africa and began a family in the Eastern Cape by adopting our daughter and giving birth to our son a few short months later. We moved to the Mother City, Cape Town, when they were in their infancy and I lectured at Stellenbosch University for a time before pioneering the Imhoff Waldorf High School. I have had the privilege of teaching teenagers remarkable courses on mythology, the history of language, philosophy, astronomy, as well as leading journeys in the wild that reflect journeys of the soul. I have also assisted these young people in producing plays and personal projects. I love working with Drama as therapy. Much is revealed and come to terms with in workshop scenarios. The truth finds its voice and embodiment. Besides my degrees I am a trained yoga teacher, dancer (ballet, modern, movement medicine, 5 rhythms, jazz), reiki practitioner, lymphasiser, indian head & shoulder masseuse, from martial arts to fine arts, I have enjoyed it all! I have experience in performance and written communication from the commercial through the personal and academic. But enough about me, I share this to say that I would like to share what I have learnt along the way with you. And in so doing continue to learn. While playing!
