𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗝𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵!

We were lucky that the BirdStreet Campus Art Department graciously welcomed us into their fascinating 3D 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 - what an eye-opening look into the creative process! Followed by a quick visit to Art on Target for their “Same Size, Same Price, No Signature” Art Exhibition. ART on Target

We also explored the striking 𝗨𝗻(𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱) 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 at The Labyrinth Project, and visited the always-inspiring GFI Gallery with a joint exhibition “𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀” by Bev de Lange & nomThumzi Mashalaba.

We are always in awe of the beautiful creations and share in the joy of “I made this!”.

This hands-on experience is not for the faint hearted, asking you to pour yourself into clay for an intense 5 days.

Join us on 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 for the public exhibition of works created during Art Muse Collective’s 2nd annual 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 in Nieu-Bethesda, led by facilitating artist Dina Grobler.

These unfired clay sculptures by participants are a celebration of raw creativity, storytelling, and form — shaped by hand, heart, and the soulful stillness of the Karoo. Each piece is a moment captured in clay, before it’s fired, in its most honest and vulnerable form.

We’re at the breathtaking Nyosi Wildlife Reserve, just 60km from Jeffreys Bay, prepping for a one-of-a-kind 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 with a corporate group of 𝟵𝟮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀!

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀:
The making of hand cut clay tiles for our upcoming Sgraffito workshop! Super chuffed with our first branded tiles!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗼?
Sgraffito is a decorative pottery technique where a surface layer—typically a colored slip or underglaze—is applied to a clay body and then partially scratched or carved away to reveal the contrasting clay underneath. The term comes from the Italian word sgraffiare, meaning “to scratch.” This technique allows artists to create detailed patterns, images, or textures on ceramics, resulting in visually striking, layered designs.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯: 𝗚𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴!

This week at Art Muse Collective’s Creativity Club, we dove into the wonderfully messy and magical world of gelli plate printing — and what a morning it was! Facilitated by the ever-inspiring Sarina Engelbrecht, we explored the endless possibilities of subtractive botanical monotypes using homemade gel plates.

From 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 and natural materials, it was a joyful journey of play, exploration, and intuitive creativity.

Participants not only learned how to create their own gel plates during the demo but also 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 to keep the creative flow going!
