The Creator, in His infinite wisdom created man and put him in a garden. The concept of Eden is often conjured up, in one's mind, as a perfect sanctuary where man can grow and thrive. This Garden is one of unsurpassed beauty where peace indeed flows like a river. The sights, sounds and smells bring the senses a delight beyond our imaginations. We can only, if we are blessed to have spent time in great beauty, like unspoiled beaches or tropical rain forests, try to catch the fleeting moments of perfection in this life. We face a world so very different from the original "plan" on a daily basis.
2019 is a time of unforeseen disassociation with almost everything that matters in life. The following message says it all:
1. We live in times when we see many humans, but not enough humanity;
2. We live in times when the rich have more rooms than children and the poor has more children than rooms.
3. We live in times when smart phones bring you closer to those who are far, but distance you from those who are close;
4. We live in times when we open Facebook, more than the Holy Book;
5. We live in times when a single mother can look after 10 children, but 10 children can't look after a single mother;
6. We live in times when the rich walk miles to digest food, while the poor walk miles to obtain food;
7. We live in times when our contact lists are huge, but our relationships are poor;
8. We live in times when our possessions are more, but our appreciation is less;
9. We live in times when we know how to earn a good living, but somehow forget how to live good;
10. We live in times when many know the price of everything, but the value of nothing;
Indeed, we live in a strange world.
The mere fact that you are reading this means that you are looking at a screen and that your entire being is currently out of tune with the Garden. You're seated on a plastic chair, drinking cheap coffee out of a foam cup, waiting for your next class to start, your next appointment, your next stop en route to your next appointed moment and you are quickly scrolling, clicking, checking, snatching time from a schedule... Your body has hit a wall and to get your attention it finds a way to make you "pay" attention when the doctor gives you a diagnosis and the bills start rolling in whilst you're reeling at the word "Cancer", "Diabetes", "Chronic Fatigue" or.... the list is endless.
Your brain has hit a wall and to get your attention it finds a way to make you "pay" attention when the doctor gives you a diagnosis and the bills start rolling in whilst you're reeling at the word "Severe Depression", "Anxiety Disorder", "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" or.... the list is endless.
And suddenly the "Crisis" which always happens to other people becomes very real and very personal because this crisis has come home - to you.
