Story time....

Somewhere along this difficult, busy, stretching year, this teen and I built this unexpected little bond where he checks up on my daily step count like it’s part of his personal job description.

And honestly? On the days when my health challenges made everything feel heavier, he was the one who kept me going.

This gentle giant of a child — caring, consistent, and so full of quiet purpose — has reminded me that even in seasons where I feel depleted, connection still finds a way to pour back into me.
It’s been a tough year… but moments like this remind me why I love what I do. Grateful for the little humans who unknowingly keep us going. 💛✨

🚲 “Today I rode a bicycle for the first time in over a decade… and it got me thinking.”

Balance. Coordination. Sequencing. Confidence.
Every pedal, every wobble, every adjustment — it’s all about integrating mind and body to move forward.

It reminded me so much of what we work on in Occupational Therapy every day — helping little ones find their rhythm, regain balance, and build confidence to keep going, even when things feel a little shaky at first.

Because just like riding a bike, growth takes practice, patience, and persistence. 🌈💪

💛 Celebrating World OT Day! 💛

Every story we see as occupational therapists is unique — whether it’s a child learning to tie their shoes, a little one finding new ways to play, or a tween discovering confidence in the classroom or a teen gaining renewed insight. These everyday moments remind us why we do what we do.

At Rea the OT, we are honoured to walk alongside children and families as they grow, adapt, and thrive. Today, we celebrate passion, purpose, and progress — the guiding principles of occupational therapy that help transform lives, one meaningful step at a time. 🌟

💚 World Mental Health Day 2025 | Rea the OT 💚

Mental health starts with the small things — safety, connection, and being understood.
As paediatric OTs, we see daily how emotional regulation and sensory needs shape wellbeing.

🌿 Simple reminders for today:
🧸 Keep routines safe and consistent
💬 Talk about feelings openly
💪 Focus on connection, not perfection
🤍 Every moment of co-regulation counts

Because mentally healthy children learn, play, and connect better — and so do we 💚

Today, on ADHD Awareness Day, we pause to honour the creativity, resilience, and brilliance of those living with ADHD. This day is about more than awareness—it’s about acceptance, empowerment, and celebrating neurodiverse minds that continue to shape our world. ✨

Kids say the darndest things 🤭

In his little mind, the world back then — especially TV — must have still been black and white.

I love how children’s perceptions of time and history are shaped by what they know and see. Their curiosity keeps us smiling and reminds us how unique each perspective is. 💛

I have met lots of exceptional male early childhood educators who are fabulous and a couple have been a part of my grandkids' early years.

**Kids say the darndest things 🤭**
During a session, a little one looked at me with the most serious face and asked:
💬 *"Why are you so squishy?"*

The first time, I laughed — mostly out of a loss for words.
The second time, I used it as an opportunity to teach him about people’s feelings and how our words can make others feel.

I must admit… I was a little offended 😅 and have admittedly gone back to gym — which isn’t a bad thing! As OTs, we consider activities health, and that includes balance of activies which should be true in our own lives (something I admittedly do not possess right now).

In this building season of *Rea the OT*, it’s been all work and no play...
So thank you, little one — sometimes we’re impacted more than we like to admit. For me, this is more than just a job. 💛
