Link to my article on Wellness Trends in The Sunday Times and a little on some of what my Workplace Wellness consists of:
You ’ve braved the ice baths, nootropics and red-light saunas — but what’s new in the world of wellness?
Why I 🩷 tennis…because it’s:
1. Fun
2. Given me power of mind, body and spirit.
3. HIIT exercise (high intensity interval training)
4. Danish studies found that people who play tennis live on average 9 years longer! Better than any other sport .
5. Outside in the sun.
6. Good for cardiovascular fitness, coordination, balance, joints, bones, muscle strength and flexibility.
🎾Tennis is a metaphor for LIFE because:
1. You have to be in the present moment.
2. There’s no time to ruminate on the precious shot or dwell on mistakes, you just move onto the next point
3. It’s about always looking ahead and just going for it and playing every point as if it’s the only point.
4. It’s about mental resilience -the battle is psychological. Strength of body and strength of mind.
5. The game can change in an instant but you have to stay in the game mentally and physically
6. It’s a mixture of natural innate talent, hard work, practice, self believe and most of all emotional intelligence.
7. It’s strategic, you have to plan before and in the moment but be very adaptable.
Ps. My tennis story starts at 6 years old to around 18 where I played at school and in teams and almost every day.
….I didn’t pick up a racket again until I was 47! I’m going into my 4th year of playing again and I play better than I did then. 🎾 We usually still love the things we did as children. What can you start up again?

Every person we become close to and depend on will eventually trigger something at some point in us (even if it’s minor and infrequent).
Our triggers (the things that activate us) are meaningful information about ourselves — information that deserves to be explored with compassion.
Our triggers can help us understand what’s important to us.
They can bring to surface feelings and experiences that were not initially given the space to fully integrate.
Getting curious about what a trigger is revealing about us, and sharing that information with safe people can be a really powerful bridge for connection.
How triggers are expressed (and responded to) are essential to developing healthy relating.
Here are some prompts to help you explore further when you become triggered/activated:
💫 Am I sharing my experience without attacking or blaming?
💫 Am I clearly expressing what I need?
💫 Do I take the time to explore what my trigger is connected to before sharing?
💫 Do I apologize/repair if I express myself in harsh/critical ways?
💫 Do I give myself permission to (feel) my feelings and allow myself to be witnessed?
Here are some prompts to help you notice how people respond to you when you share:
✨ Do they respond to me with care and sensitivity when I share my triggers in a non-blaming way?
✨ Do they make effort to understand/be curious about my experience?
✨ Do they share their own pain and triggers with me at times?
✨ Do I feel somewhat calmer/more connected to myself/them after I share the root of my trigger?
These prompts are an initial guide.
There is a deeply important discernment process within this exploration.
If you’re doing your own work and still feel like something is feeling off in your relationship, then other skills sometimes need to be developed (or your red flag alert system may be alerting you).
Your triggers are about you .. AND .. how they are managed/empathized with relationally matters a whole lot too.

🎂✈️💔🐣It’s been a crazy 2 week for so in my life. My 50th birthday, an emigration, a death and a birth. It’s a lot. What did I wish for when I blew out my candles ? Peace of mind and harmony. 🧚🏻

Pilates appreciation post: I started doing Pilates 20 years ago when I was 30 to manage a whiplash injury & I have never stopped since. My 2 X weekly sessions have, I believe, kept me supple and strong. It’s impossible to grow bored with Pilates as there are so many exercises & variations. It’s not just for rehab, and core work, but also for strength, balance, co-ordination, and concentration. It’s about pushing out of your comfort zone, breathing deeply and calming the nervous system. It’s my respite and my restoration. It’s also helped to be part of the excellent & have an excellent and knowledgeable and caring teacher . If you’ve never tried Pilates, what are you waiting for?

🎂50 sounds like a big number. And I am proud of it! I have friends who never made it this far so I feel privileged and grateful to age.
I’m still on the journey of self- discovery, but I do know a few things things: I know who I am and what gives my life meaning, I know who my friends are and why, I know what my values and are and what’s important to me. I know I try to be the best version of me each day and sometimes I fall short but I am always trying to move forwards.
I’m very appreciative of my body, my life, my family, my chosen friend family, the planet and my tribe.
I’ve been showered with an abundance of adventure, kindness and magic in my life amongst the ever- present challenges of being human. Here’s to the next chapter of adventure. And if you’re a part of that, small or large, I thank you. 🩵Nikki

As a prolific journalist in various media sectors, I pushed myself very hard for about 15 years. I work as a freelance writer and lived on adrenalin and deadlines.
🦋By the time I got married and wanted to become a mother, my body was biochemically burnt out! On top of that I had polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS- an extreme hormonal imbalance) to contend with and was diagnosed with thyroid dysfunction (hypothyroidism) and insulin resistance (pre-diabetes).
🦋To look at my life from the outside, it seemed successful but I was constantly sick , suffering from infections and chronic fatigue. I was burnt out. I was also diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus which completely whacked my system, lying dormant in my body and then attacking whenever stress laid my immune system low. (Often! And during my second pregnancy, the virus made me so tired I could barely get out of bed) I was also diagnosed with Hashimotos (thyroid auto immune disease).
🦋Both of my children were conceived with the help of fertility treatment which also had an effect on my body- this was all an arduous but evolutionary journey that projected me into healing body, mind, and spirit. Although I have been interested in health and well-being for many years, the last 5 years I have immersed myself in what well-being truly means & I would now like to be of service to others.
🦋My special areas of interest are : fertility or those going through fertility treatment, anxiety, burnout or stress management.
