How are you practicing self care this Sunday? One of our favorite self care practices is getting outside and having our favorite meal - today we treated ourselves to some fresh sushi from in birdhaven

What are some other hidden sanctuaries in Joburg that we should visit our next self care Sunday?

Happy 2026.
We’re entering this year grounded in one quiet truth:

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation.
We grow, stretch, and balance best —
when someone is beside us,
when we’re held by community,
when softness meets structure.

Thank you for being here.
We’re so ready to share what’s coming next.

Some things are better explained through feeling.
And sometimes, the act of creating is the explanation.

We’re starting the year with deep gratitude for the artists who share their work —
not to perform, but to process.
Not to impress, but to express.

At Ommeya, we believe healing often begins there —
in the quiet courage it takes to turn feeling into form.

Thank you for creating. Thank you for sharing.
We felt it.

We recently sent to try out flotation therapy as part of her recovery from her most recent Autoimmune flare up from excessive nervous stimulation (I.e. social media addiction)

Flotation therapy is one our newly discovered tools for Nervous System Regulation. This down regulating practice works by giving your nervous system fewer reasons to stay online.

In this bath , the water is highly mineralised — similar in salinity to the Dead Sea — so the body floats without effort, held from every side.

As gravity fades, muscles soften.
Joint signals quieten.
The breath deepens on its own.

This drop in sensory load allows the parasympathetic nervous system (Rest and Digest) to come online — the state where repair, digestion, and emotional processing happen best.

Akin to returning back to the safety of the womb or a cocoon

Nothing is forced. Nothing is fixed.
The body simply remembers how to settle when it feels safe enough.

Just deep rest — and the quiet relief of being fully supported.

On Sundays we…?

Over dose on acts of self love, more acts of kindness would make the world a better place. We learn how to be kind by being kind to ourselves 💖

Here are some of our favorite* self care tips we’ve been testing out
- Slide 2: self love habit building pack
- Slide 3: Pamper day , the staff there are just divine!
- Slide 4: Salt flotation experience, thanks for the find .c
- Slide 5: Padel with the Barbiez, thanks for ring leading us
- Slide 6: A little chat with Self Cav, thanks and
- Slide 7: Candle wax massage regulate your nervous system through sensory practices like smell and touch. Organic wax like the one from can also be used in your hair

❤️‍🩹 Dead Heroes Don’t Save Lives ❤️‍🩹

Wrapping up 2025 with a team bonding sessions at the CHAPs end of year celebration. We tapped into our senses to remind our bodies that we are safe. We practise some balloon breathing to remind us how to slow down and breath. We did some stretching and movement and ended off with favorite practise - dancing!

Well done team CHAPS for remembering to put your own oxygen mask and accept help with refilling your cup. Thank you for all the hard work you do for our communities and we hope you enjoy the rest and recovery 💖

Happy Self Care Sunday bbs 💖💖💖

While everyday is the day to practise self care, on Sundays we go all in and commit to self care 200%

Self care starts with , knowing yourself and loving the self that you know.

In a world that is so full of critics and analysis paralysis we hope you choose love and kindness today instead

Last month we picked up the Self Love habit pack from and can’t wait to share more of how we’ve been using it to foster self care

Day 16/16 — Aluta Continua

The official may end today, but the work of ending violence — in our homes, our communities, and within ourselves — continues.

Caring for ourselves is not a once-off action. It’s a daily practice of choosing kindness over hardness, presence over overwhelm, and non-violence as a way of moving through the world.

Today isn’t a conclusion.
It’s a continuation — a reminder that this journey carries on long after the campaign ends.

Aluta continua. The struggle continues, and so do we.
