Critical to any diabetic's health is great kidney function. One of the threats to this is sustained UTI (urinary tract infections) which can lead to hydronephrosis and, ultimately kidney failure...I should know: I had to get surgery widening my urethra 3 years ago. So, to maintain my urinary tract health I, amongst other thing, drink pure cranberry extract (diluted in water in the pic) to ensure that my kidneys and other organs, function well. I get the liquid kind as it is more easily absorbed and it is pure cranberry, without the additional stuff, including colourants, preservatives, etc. I drink it before every meal every two weeks when I do a cleanse or take four tablespoons daily during my normal routine. All salads are not equal. Things to remember about preparing or ordering a salad:
1.make sure you incorporate all the food groups, including healthy fats in dressings and avocado
2. it's important to have lean protein in there that offers a great deal of benefit to you, such as oily fish and skinless chicken breast or red kidney beans
3. Make sure the vegetables are fresh and that you have a variance in fibre sources such as celery, lettuce and avo
4. Get some dairy in there in the form of cheese or broccoli or yoghurt for good measure, and
5. Know what's in your dressing. Not all dressings are good for you due to the salt used, oils used and amount of sugar. When in debt, settle for basic balsamic or white wine vinegar and olive oil.
Follow these rules, and you should be eating a nutritious, guilt-free meal...oh, have I mentioned how incredible your body will look?
