The Rotary Club of North Sydney Sunrise, with the help of a Rotary Foundation District Grant, proudly sponsored an off-grid solar solution to power Woodside Sanctuary’s borehole pumps - in this way ensuring 24/7 water supply to the Sanctuary during power outages – and improving the lives of its residents and staff.
Photos show installation of solar panels - that power the battery to operate the pumps - and staff being trained in how to operate the new system.

Hireup Founder and CEO Laura O’Reilly invited a showcase stall for Woodside Sanctuary at their staff conference Hi-Con 2024, on 29 August. They orchestrated a ‘Woodside Sanctuary Raffle’ and Laura matched dollar for dollar! On behalf of Woodside immense gratitude to Laura and the staff at Hireup for their awesome generosity. The funds will be put towards a solar project for Woodside, which if installed will be an enormous saving in utility bills and help towards their goal of building a stable and sustainable future. Thank you to everyone supporting the Woodside Sanctuary appeal to help save this home for 84 Profoundly Intellectually and Physically Disabled and vulnerable residents, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The ‘Friends of Woodside Sanctuary’ project launch dinner in Sydney Australia on 11 May 2024 was a fun and successful evening!! - everyone helping to continue the 69 year legacy of Woodside, and build a sustainable future.

Fetal alcohol syndrome is not curable with symptoms including physical, behavioural and learning impairments. Woodside Sanctuary needs funding to provide lifelong care to optimise quality of life for those living with severe impacts and neurological deficits from this disorder. At the Rotary 2024 District 9685 Conference in Erina (15/16 March), so pleased for the opportunity to showcase my Woodside Sanctuary project - endorsed by my Rotary Club of North Sydney Sunrise (RCNSS) and registered with RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) - to help spread the word of this very worthy cause.

Many at Woodside have feeding difficulties and specific dietary requirements to process food. The dedicated staff work across disciplines - nutrition, nursing, and medical - to provide well-balanced meals, and monitor patient health and well-being.
