🌍 Back in South Africa after a successful business mission in Europe!

Grateful for the incredible support received through the Partnering in Business with Germany programme. The experience opened valuable B2B opportunities, deepened market insight, and strengthened our commitment to expanding proudly South African innovation into global markets. 🇿🇦🤝🇩🇪

While in Europe, we also advanced discussions around a Government-to-Government collaboration between South Africa and Switzerland, particularly focused on regulatory frameworks and trade facilitation in key industries such as cannabis and phytomedicine.

This morning, I had the privilege of speaking with Arabile Gumede on Newzroom Africa about a pressing issue: the ongoing illegal arrests of cannabis users despite legal protections in South Africa.

We discussed:
✔️ The 2018 Constitutional Court ruling and the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act, which legalized private use, possession, and cultivation.
✔️ The Phakisa Initiative's resolutions, focusing on transitioning legacy growers into the legal economy and fostering economic inclusion.
✔️ The need for SAPS to enforce the 2023 moratorium on cannabis-related arrests and ensure adherence to judicial rulings.
✔️ The broader implications for human rights, economic empowerment, and indigenous knowledge systems.
