Liam is eventualy home. Home is such a strange place for Liam after a long time of silence and clean sterile white walls of hospital. Home is full of strange sounds and things, even strange new poeple.

Please help us raise funds for Liams NNICU (NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE) MEDICAL BILL. LIAM was in NNICI since birth and then had Meningitis, a long ICU stay far exceeding R200000.00, that's only the hospital. Medical insurance has been exhausted fast.

October 15 2024 to October 21 2024. A lumberpunch was done on 15/10 to monitor amd confirm progress and recovery.
Sunday 20/10 Last day of antibiotics treatment. If all goes well there will be no treatment Tomorrow. Final tests to be done. Monday 21/10/2024 All goes well and Liam should be discharged tomorrow.

October 4 2024 - October 14 2024 - To our horror it was found the new laboratory antibiotics was not send with the transfer. this resulted in not receiving this specific treatment. However, the original treatment could continue. Since then, Infection count has gone up again as multiple strains needed to be treated. The new laboratory antibiotic treatment only continued 3 days later on 07/10. After treatment resumed Liam responded well and he continued to improve

21/10/2024

October 03 2024. New treatment appears to be working well. Infection count went down. Hospital bill excluding doctors and specialized diagnostic tests and procedures (xray, blood work, ect.) for 8 days alreadiy R243000. Medical insurance has been exhausted. Hospital considder Liam stabalized and advised parents he would be transfered to Goverment Hospital. The closest relevant space available was Joburg Gen / Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital

Transfer started late late afternoon. Busamed secured a ambulance from Emer-G-Med EMS for the transfer. For the first time Liam ware dressed for the trip for heat retention. Liam ware transported in ambulance, with mom holding him safely secured. A emotional ans special experience for mom. Only much later the evening stabalizing and admission processes ware completed. As can be expected and feared the transfer took its toll. Oxygen and monitors temporary reconnected.

September 30 - Oktober 02 2024. Liam's progress is good. Moved to another ward, No prior notification. Imagine Parents arriving not seeing their baby where he is expqcted to be. quite a shock, not knowing what is happening.
Hospital confirmed Medical insurance has been exhausted.and a agreement had to be signed with he hospital. This is due to the hospital sugesting the costs extremely high with hight cost recovery risks and the hospital not a charity. Despite this, treatment continued and good progress made.
Feeding tube has been removed. Suchk drink feeding progressing. However Mom still not allowed to hold and feed him herself
