Children don’t often say ‘I’ve had a hard day’ — instead, it comes out as ‘Will you play with me?’

After school restraint collapse is real. The school-to-home transition can be overwhelming, and play is often how children ask for connection.

I meet far too many parents who expect a quick fix.
They compare trauma counselling to going to the doctor: “One round of antibiotics and you're good to go.”
But our souls don’t work that way.

Healing often requires more than a single session. Oftentimes, it's mindsets that need to be changed, unhealthy habits that need to break, or a self image that needs to be built up from scratch.

We live in a fast-paced world that thrives on instant results and quick fixes. But when it comes to inner healing, we have to slow down, trust the process, and allow the journey to shape us. 🌿

This cannot be emphasized enough:
Unresolved trauma is behind so many broken relationships, poor school performance, and the inability to truly experience peace and joy.

It can even show up in the body — headaches, stomach problems, insomnia…the list goes on.

Just because it’s suppressed doesn’t mean it’s gone.

💛 Help is always available.
Book your child’s play therapy session with me today, and let’s work together to help your child heal and thrive.

Initially, this boy didn’t want to share with me what he had written. But afterwards, he actually wanted me to put his note on the wall for all to see - and he even signed his name at the bottom.

“I forgive my mom for kiking (kicking) my door even though I hated it.”

Something we ought to do - even when people do things that hurt us or that we “hate”.

Ephesians 4:32
“… forgiving each other, just as God has forgiven you.”

May this be an example, and gentle reminder, that forgiveness is so important to God. And it is our duty to teach children about forgiveness. Not only through our words, but in how we live and the way we forgive.

There is no such thing as a "kiddies version" of anxiety, fear, or sorrow.
Children feel just as deeply as we do.
We need to prioritize their emotions rather than dismiss it as attention-seeking or bad behaviour.
