Yoga is more than just physical postures - it’s a path that promotes union with life, on all levels

Most of us can agree that we usually fail on the first principle… 👉

BUT, Fortunately for us , it’s a path of practice and not just the physical kind! Cultivating a good mind and a good body takes effort & a whole lot of awareness.

When we use asana or posture as a way to observe the self, it begins to show where there is both tension & resistance in the physical body & the mind

It shows us where the breath can’t move freely or access easily

So when tension & tightness arise, rather than forcing, by holding steady & comfortable posture, we apply the concepts of sthira and sukha — steadiness without force, & ease without collapse

This is then when the asana becomes a tool for svādhyāya — self-observation

The goal is not to conquer the posture,
You’re simply here to feel yourself in it and as we lessen in rigidity of mind with practice, the body follows

It’s an interesting process - one that requires patience & consistency 🖤

Pranayama techniques are designed to assist us expand the vital force & channel it through the body, enhancing our overall wellbeing.

Additionally, by doing Pranayama techniques, there also develops a capacity for concentration in the mind, which has added benefits.

Heat builds. Breath deepens. The body works.

Yoga isn’t meant to be easy, but it’s not meant to be uncomfortable either. The practice challenges us so we can observe how we respond to effort.

Through breath, discipline and awareness, we learn to remain steady even in difficulty.

A short story about how we got here ꩜

In a world facing war, it becomes apparent that most of humanity fixates on that which is outside of themselves. If we all learned the art of inner contemplation & self observance as a daily practice, we may all be living in an entirely different world.

These mental impurities start in the subtlest of ways, from the smallest daily choices we make, from how kind we are to others, to the way we think about ourselves and the world and beyond.

There can be so much noise, chaos and distraction, yoga practice helps us clear that away, bringing us closer to ourselves beyond the I, you, me mentality.

It requires a bit of strength & flexibility in the shoulders & spine and is often uncomfortable at first

It’s one of those poses you either flip right into with ease and grace or one of those you spend time on & work towards…
