The two suspects who were arrested in connection of the death of Nondumiso Nicollin Mabila (30) appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday September 13.

Mabila, who worked as a member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) was killed on September 9 in Tonga near Komatipoort. The suspects, Thabo Mambane (21) and Ndumiso Mabila (31), were arrested by members of the Tonga SAPS.

The provincial police spokesperson, Brig Selvy Mohlala, said, “The police report indicates that on the said day, the SANDF member, who was in full uniform, came out of her house in the early hours of the morning to head to work. It is said that as soon as she came out, she was reportedly attacked and stabbed several times to death by suspects, before they fled the scene, leaving her bleeding profusely.

“Her relative was then informed that there was something suspicious at the SANDF member’s residence. Upon arrival, the relative discovered her lifeless body lying outside in a pool of blood, with what looked like stab wounds,” Mohlala explained.

The police and medical personnel were notified and upon their arrival at the scene, the woman was certified dead by the paramedics. “A murder case was opened accordingly, and the Tonga police immediately began with their investigations, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.”
The provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, reiterated that she would do everything in her power to ensure that Mpumalanga becomes safe for all, including vulnerable groups. “I applaud the members for their hard work, dedication and their commitment which led to a breakthrough in this case.”

The two suspects were remanded in custody during their court appearance, and they will appear again in the same court for a formal bail application on September 27.

Dear parents and guardians who have kids in Varsity.....
As we are approaching the June holidays, may you please try and spend time with those kids. Those kids go through a lot and iningi labo are traumatised, truth is varsity is not all that fun We go through a lot of things, sometimes we cry and wanna give up but we think of you all the time. Siyesaba ukuniphoxa, some modules even make you think of deregistering and just forget about this whole school thing but we quickly remember that khona omakhelwane abalinde ukunihleka as our parents, should we not make it.
We sometimes go to bed in empty stomachs cs we don't want to trouble you by reporting everything ngoba siyazazi izimo esizishiye emakhaya.
Ukusuka ekhaya alone uyohlala in a new environment with strangers is a huge challenge, you have to adapt and still balance your schoolwork, you have to try and survive peer pressure and be disciplined all the time. Some kids have been victims of r**e but they will never talk about it.
Some are bleeding inside because of the stupid choices they made. Abanye they have had abortions because they mistakenly fell pregnant and realised that isimo ekhaya asikho ryt and akekho umuntu ozobheka ingane. Should they decide to keep the child, they will have to pause their education.
Yes imali ka NSFAS ikhona but kunzima when you hear a student say kulo 1440 kumele u 700 ngiwuyise ekhaya cs ngazaliswa inja engayondli ingane. Abanye bondla amakhaya ngayo ke nje cs ikati lilele eziko ekhaya.
Truth is we are emotionally drained, not just by our own issues but nezinkinga zabantu esihlala nabo, we sometimes pray sigcine singafikanga ku amen. Some students have even committed su***de and it affects all of us.
Sicela nisiphe uthando when we come home, talk to us cs kuningi okubophelene in our hearts ngamunye ngamunye. Just know that we are working hard and tirelessly to make you proud, ukuze ningabi inhlekisa to other family
