Red peppers, red nail polish, red lipstick, a red dress...! We have been waiting patiently for our pepper to turn red before harvesting it.

The red colour in most fruit and vegetables show high anti-oxidant levels. COFFEE POT! Did you know that when coffee hits your bloodstream, it starts to stimulate your adrenal glands? Your body gets pumped with adrenalin, hence the mental alertness. You feel good, and you are ready to face the world again. Stressor hormones like Cortisol get released. For most men, this is the hormone which contributes to an extended waistline. Men are left with irritation, anxiety and little patience. In women, it increases symptoms of PMS, and can contribute to feelings of depression and anxiety. Most people will grab a coffee again to feel better. This is a vicious cycle that can eventually lead to adrenal fatigue. Why do you wake up tired? Your adrenals weren't "whipped" with caffeine throughout the night to try and keep it going. Then you wake up "needing" coffee to function again. FRESH IS BEST! With just a few basic fresh ingredients, you can cover a few meals in your week. Raw baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, avo, spring onion, broccoli, peppers. Add to gluten free corn pasta as a pasta salad, add to cold brown rice to make a bowl, fill a wrap, eat with flatbreads or roti, have some baby potatoes, or enjoy on its own as a salad with a dollop of hummus. FOOD COMBINING Many people are sitting with indigestion, hayfever symptoms, chronic aches and pains, restlessness and sleeplessness. Did you know that certain food combinations can be contributing factors? Different types of food digest differently time wise and can then cause fermentation in the gut, as well as delayed transit time. Toxins are then re-absorbed into the body. This can also lead to inflammation in the body. Try to avoid eating animal proteins with starches in the same meal. When you do eat meat, have it with non-starchy veg or/and salad. When eating starch, like potatoes or pasta, have it with veg. Try it for a month where possible and see the results.๐Ÿ˜„ healthamplified.co.za

Who says salad is boring!? Salad can be a nutritious, filling meal. Chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, carrot ribbons, creamy avocado, high protein black beans on a bed of leafy greens. CREAMY POTATO & BROCCOLI SOUP. This is by far one of my favourites! Soak 100g raw cashews for 2 hrs or overnight. Peel and cube about 7 potatoes. Fry one clove chopped garlic, one chopped onion and some thyme. Add cubed potato. Cover with water and simmer until potatoes start to get softer. Add one head of broccoli florets. Simmer and mash the vegetables until creamy with a few chunks left. Drain cashew water. Add cashews and 1.5 cups water to a blender. Blend until creamy. Add 2 cups soup into the blender with the cream. Blend. Add to rest of the soup. Add 2 tsp Marmite or Miso paste. Stir through. Add pink salt to taste. Serve and enjoy! healthamplified.co.za
