🌬🕉Lately this is what my morning practise looks like...Just me singing with my harmonium.
Ive never studied Music Theory officially, but I can
feel and hear when the sounds and tones resonate harmoniously within me.
I was playing around with D, and the perfect 5th, 3rd and 4th intervals, and came up with this melody.
I started just toning with my voice, creating vowel sounds like aaaa, oooooo, uuuuuu, then suddenly, as seems to be the way with me and this practise, A mantra emerged.
✨️Om Namah Shivah✨️
A very special and sacred mantra for me, personally. My teacher initiated me with this mantra when he gifted me my Mala beads during our time together, about 12 years ago.
You may ask, what does the mantra mean?
The meaning is " I bow to Shiva", the destroyer of Illusions, symbolizing the bowing of the ego to the true inner self.
For me, mantras are more about the way they make me feel. They open me up when Im feeling closed and compressed. They bring me back to myself, and allow me to expand my awareness and connect to divine consciousness or simply something greater and bigger than what we know here on earth.
When I chant or tone with the harmonium, especially by myself, it is always a curious & joyful exploration of what might unfold. There is freedom, no judgement, just a feeling of peace, love and presence that starts to bubble up inside of me.
It is my medicine and Im so grateful for it🙏
