Having two eyes gives us 3D vision because each eye sees the world from a slightly different angle. This is called binocular vision. Your brain takes the two slightly different images from each eye and combines them into one. The differences between these images help your brain figure out how far away things are, creating a sense of depth.

For example, if you hold up your finger and look at it with just one eye, then the other, you’ll notice it seems to “jump” a little. That small “jump” is what your brain uses to make a 3D picture of the world.
