At Nanny 'n Me, we often say, “Mess is best!” 💛

And here is why it matters so much for our little ones:

When babies and toddlers dive into hands-on sensory play, it helps build strong connections in their brains. They touch new textures and see how their own actions make things happen, which teaches them cause and effect in the gentlest way.

As they explore and try new things, they meet small challenges that gently grow their problem-solving skills and spark their creativity. Messy play holds their attention, lights up their curiosity, and leaves them feeling so happy and satisfied inside.

It really is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways they learn through play.

In our first intro to play session, we explored how babies learn through their small muscles and sensory play 🌈💦

I helped the nannies to understand how development in the hands, eyes, mouth and feet helps babies discover and understand the world around them. Through touching, grasping, stretching, dropping, wobbling and catching, their little hands are constantly learning.

Here, our babies explored and played with:
• Slime
• Balls
• Water
• Blocks
• Cups
• Tubes
• Small sensory food items like lentils and rice

Each texture, movement and object helps strengthen those tiny muscles and encourages curiosity, coordination and confidence ⭐

As 2025 draws to a close, I am sitting here with the biggest smile and a heart overflowing with gratitude. Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe this first year as the Nanny ’n Me franchisee for Paarl, Franschhoek & Wellington. 💛 What a journey it has been, filled with learning, connection, and so many beautiful moments shared with incredible nannies.

Watching each nanny show up with dedication, curiosity, and so much love for the little ones, truly been the highlight of my year. Seeing their confidence grow, skills strengthen, and their bond with the children deepen has reminded me again and again why this work matters so much.
