I am Crystle, owner of Little Genius Remedial and tutor Centre in Port Elizabeth. I opened my centre in 2017 and offered assistance to foundation phase learners who find academic tasks such as reading, writing and numeracy challenging. In 2021 my son started Gr 1 and as he has learning challenges himself, I decided to take some time off in the afternoons to assist him. He now doesn't need my help as much anymore and I have a few after school hours a week available to help other learners. I currently offer remedial therapy at Willow Academy a few mornings and would be more than willing to assist learners at another school on the remaining days. I am based in Walmer, walking distance from Clarendon primary school.
What makes a remedial therapist different to a tutor? A remedial therapist is a qualified teacher with further training and qualifications to assist learners with learning challenges. We don't merely tutor the work, we assess, find reasons for the difficulties and work on the underlying factors. For example, if your child struggles to read it could be due to a number of visual perception difficulties, phonics difficulties or even auditory challenges. We don't just treat the symptoms, we look for the cause.
If your child is struggling with any academic tasks or needs assistance with study skills, please feel free to contact me for more information on 083 326 4070. Remedial offered in English and Afrikaans.
Have a happy and blessed academic year!
