Bio Practice and patient safety...

So as NOT to create panic, but rather professionally be proactice in caring for your practice and clients, here are a few tips about Coronvirus safety in your public space (practice)...

The gym or private Bio practice space, like other public places, is safe as long as one takes precautions. That's because coronavirus [is mostly spread through direct contact with respiratory droplets](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/transmission.html), which are released when someone sneezes or coughs. In other words, one has less of a chance of picking up the virus by sharing dumbbells and using public machines than by standing near someone who's sneezing and coughing.

It's less likely (although still possible) that one can get coronavirus by touching a contaminated surface.

For coronavirus prevention as well as for general hygiene, one should still wipe mats and gym equipment with sanitizing spray or wipes before and after use (make sure they are 60% or higher in ethanol or isopropyl.)

Sweat itself, though, won't transmit COVID-19

Specific tips:

-One should self-quarantine to limit spread and exposure to others, and contact the coronavirus hotline for testing should you experience any of the symptoms of coronavirus, and have been in direct contact with a positive tested covid-19 patient.

Β· Avoid people who are sneezing or coughing.

Β· Stay six feet away from most people.

Β· Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds. Or sanitise with hand-sanitizer between each use of equipment

Β· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. If you need to wipe sweat, use a disposable paper towel and wash your hands afterwards. One does not want to be reusing a towel that might have germs. It's too easy to put germs back on your face, so best to be prudent.

Β· Wipe down equipment with sanitizer before and after use.

Β· Sit on a towel. As far as using towels provided by your gym/facility, check to see if clean towels are kept separate from dirty ones, and make sure that other patrons aren't touching clean towels and putting them back.

Β· Take a shower after working out at the gym.

🀰Regular exercise during pregnancy can improve your posture and decrease some common discomforts such as backaches and fatigue. There is evidence that physical activity may prevent gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy), relieve stress, and build more stamina needed for labor and delivery

Pregnancy is a unique time and opportunity to optimize health behaviors. All women without contraindication should be physically active throughout their pregnancy, including previously inactive, those with gestational diabetes and those overweight and obese.

This infographic from Dr. Patti Bauer highlights recommendations for being physically active during pregnancy.
