The story of a socket.

We love this journey through time with our patient, Kotie Rolf Potgieter.

From 2017’s stunning custom socket design that Kotie called ‘super cool’ on her page, to a design in celebration of the 2024 Paris Paralympics, to now…. a Grandmother’s ‘cool leg’ that often gets updated with new sticker designs by her grandkids.

Over time, prosthetic equipment requires upgrades, maintenance and, in some cases, replacement. It is a lifelong investment to keep independently mobile. Adding a socket design created to help inspire and motivate is a gesture of encouragement, a gesture of love.

Now and then!!

Imagine our joy to receive this image (first photo) featuring longtime patient and friend, Berno Haarhoff, still doing what he loves. What amazing memories it ignites!!

In 2009 (photo two), with the support from Good Morning Angels, we fit Berno Haarhoff with his first prosthetic equipment following a long battle with Cancer that resulted in the amputation of his leg from above the knee.

On the day of his fitment, we invited members of the media to attend the occasion and witness Berno getting ‘back on the horse’ (literally) for the first time using his custom fitted prosthetic limb.

Fast forward to NOW and… we are THRILLED to see Berno still going for it and living his life without limitations as a prosthetic device user.

We salute you, Berno – nog altyd ons !!

Every socket tells a story.

A comfortable, well-fitting socket component is vital for the efficient performance of any lower limb prosthesis.

Over time, patients need to adapt to changes in the stump by periodically upgrading their socket component to ensure a continuous perfect fit while navigating life as a prosthetic device user 💙

The photo features ONE patient's 'socket collection' over the years and... it is inspiring to be reminded of the journey together.
