When I was trying to lose weight, I lived in the all-or-nothing cycle. I’d start a strict diet on Monday, cut out all my favourite foods, and promise myself this time would be different. By Friday, I was starving, frustrated, and usually gave up with a binge. Then I’d restart on Monday.
That cycle kept me stuck for years. The truth is—extreme restriction doesn’t work. It only sets you up to fail, because no one can live without carbs, chocolate, or flexibility forever.
What actually works for weight loss is consistency, not perfection. Eating balanced meals most of the time. Prioritising protein so you stay full. Allowing the foods you love in moderation, so you don’t feel deprived. Training regularly, but not punishing yourself when you miss a day.
Once I let go of the all-or-nothing mindset, I finally started losing fat and keeping it off. I wasn’t chasing perfection anymore—I was building habits I could stick to long-term. And that’s why my results lasted.
If you’ve been stuck in the start-over cycle, know this: weight loss isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about doing the right things consistently 🫶🏼
