It is with deep sadness that we regret to inform you that Michaela Kleynhans graduated to the Heavenly realm on Wednesday 1 May 2019. She exchanged her earthly abode to be present with the Lord. We will truly miss this special girl and forever keep her memory alive. You are home, you dwell in eternal peace and you now have abundant life. Rest in the Heavenlies beautiful, sweet girl. ❤️🌹

This post is dedicated to my oncologist Dr Cohen, at Life Groenkloof Hospital for being with me on this journey from the start. I would not be here if it was not for him.

Mary Potter Oncology Centre has always made me feel welcome with the friendly staff that go out of their way to make you comfortable. These people are absolutely amazing. 👏🏼

A big heartfelt thank you to Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool Pretoria, Michaela’s former High School where she matriculated in 2016, for their initiative with the Sprayathon held for her on Wednesday, 06 February 2019, in an effort to raise funds for her immunotherapy.

In the words of the Affie sisterhood themselves “‘n Mens spandeer nie tyd by hierdie skool en gaan onaangeraak weg nie. Mag dit waarvoor Affies al die jare lank staan, steeds behou word. Mag die skool en almal wat ‘n verbintenis met haar het, steeds van krag tot krag gaan. Ons sien haar wen!”

Michaela’s Miracle

Imagine the possibility of your life being over before it has even begun. This is the unimaginable reality which Michaela Kleynhans faces. In 2015, Michaela was diagnosed with melanoma cancer and sought treatment at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. The melanoma as well as her lymph nodes were removed in an effort to prevent the cancer from spreading. Despite their best efforts, the cancer had spread and Michaela was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer in January 2019. All of this before Michaela’s 21st birthday on the 3rd of February.

The type of cancer with which Michaela has been diagnosed is the most uncommon, yet deadliest type of skin cancer and the only available treatments are targeted therapies and immunotherapies, the funding of which is not covered by any medical aid. The medication which Michaela requires was only approved in 2018 and thus it is very expensive. With this new medication Michaela can/will be totally healed.

Unfortunately, Michaela’s family has been financially exhausted and are unable to further afford her treatment. Without the medication, Michaela will not make it. Despite her diagnosis, Michaela has blossomed into a passionate and energetic person. Her kindness, pure heart and positivity has added meaning to the lives of those around her. She has an immense passion for children and has big aspirations to become a teacher one day.

Please help us save Michaela’s life so that she may fulfil her passion. Please help us give Michaela her miracle.
