"We wake up every morning and just like we expect to open our eyes and see, we expect to reach out for our coffee with a fully functional and pain free hand. Unfortunately, that very amazing organ at the end of our arm frequently becomes painful or dysfunctional.

A functional hand requires that it has a normal structure, that it is mobile, powered, sensate and comfortable. Causes of dysfunction include birth defects, injury and infection, arthritis and the degenerative effects caused by use and age."

I’m hoping to gain practical experience that bridges the gap between theory and real work practice. I want to strengthen my foundational skills in pre-op assessments, vital signs monitoring, post-op care and infection control in a fast-paced day surgery environment, while learning from experienced nurses and the multidisciplinary team."

Although their time with us is brief, we’re excited to be part of their learning journey and to contribute to shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

What are you looking forward to experiencing at Cure Day Hospitals?

I am eager to learn from a diverse team of professionals and to be exposed to a variety of clinical cases. I am keen to understand how different departments work together within a day hospital setting, from the help desk to the theatre rooms. This opportunity will strengthen my clinical judgement, broaden my perspective, and build my confidence in real-life situations."

"I have always had a strong interest in the surgical field, particularly in anaesthesia. Choosing to pursue nursing was my first step toward achieving my goal of becoming an anaesthetic nurse. Being placed at Cure Day Hospitals felt like a significant milestone in turning my dream into a reality. This opportunity allows me to gain valuable exposure to the surgical healthcare environment. My goal is to develop surgical skills, including maintaining sterility and understanding how to support patients under anaesthesia. Additionally, I aim to learn how to support patients during recovery by helping them manage anxiety and promoting healing. This experience will equip me with the knowledge and confidence to return as a contributing member of the healthcare team."
