Landscaping biz growing slowly.
Moved to a tiny house in poor rural community a few weeks ago, so
Home nursery to start. First greenhouse up!
New garden, plus a community nursery to start.
Hungry dogs to feed, so life is hectic, but I visit mom as much as I can and want to restart sewing one of these days.

Second night in my tiny house and chaos abounds all around me after big move yesterday, lots of odds and sods today, plus more to come.
Have a sewing unit though with room for 3 machines and a work table tucked under bookshelves.

Such a great example!

Poddles, my precious cat has now passed and mom in frail care.
Life is always changing...
Post lunch rest and Poddles likes to nap real close to me. Sigh!

Truest saying on earth. Talk is cheap. Actions always speak louder than words...

My focus has been more on restarting my landscape gardening biz since mom's stroke 5 July, but been very slow, so now I have started a mini nursery.
Finally going to move to a tiny RDP house in the country with a big yard in the next few months, so will continue with nursery there.
Mom reacting to a visiting pooch, but her beloved pooch not allowed inside, she has to be put in a wc and go out side. Nuts!

I have yet to finish my separate arts and crafts space with last tidying up to do, but with the miserable weather in Southern Cape right now, it may be a good time to start the memory book for mom.

Life goes on and I am struggling to survive financially due to insufficient garden and landscaping work.
I applied for a job in an interior decorating workshop, so holding thumbs. Living between two really small towns, jobs are few and far between.
Right now finishing WIP, or even thinking about sewing is difficult, but I have made up my mind to try and get started again.
The creative process is always good for the soul.
Off to visit maman this morning. Had no petrol to be able to visit since Thursday last week, but even though it breaks my heart, there is not much I can do about it at present.
I cannot afford to get depressed and despondent, so I am just keeping busy with all sorts (positive and proactive) and focussing on various people around me needing my help.
Sooner, or later, things must get better!

Please note:-
I only have one product catalogue on WhatsApp under "Thera Sense Fidget Products" folks, so please check there.
There are product types listed there too, so you can see at a glance how many items I have in each category:-
* Aprons;
* Blankets;
* Cushions;
* Quilts
Today I measured lengths and widths, so most sections now updated, except for "Aprons".
Each item is unique and one-off, so batting thickness varies, sizes and shapes vary and sometimes I end up 'wonkey donkey', so some items may end up a bit lopsided, once in a while.
I focus rather on colour, pattern contrast amd ensuring I include enough activity and sensory features, so I always say that I am an 'imperfect' perfection.
Delivery:- PEP, Postnet R109, or courier - quote. PUDO is a huge PIA, so no go. 😬
However, I do make bulk orders, so always new items in progress. 🙂
I also make other items for adults and children with other special needs, so please just ask.
Add O848727233
However, I am always working on new items and happy to make from scratch if need be.
God bless, Mel
😇

Happy birthday to me!
Going to visit maman, then come home and get started in my little greenhouse. My impending move means that I have plenty of bonsai and orchids, plus umpteen other pots that need sorting out.
No idea where I am going, or when, but I want to be ready. Will need to restart a garden wherever I land, but one needs adequate water.
Cannot say if I will have electricity. At this stage it is doubtful, so no sewing, unless I master my hand operated machine.
Right now it is bare essentials and necessities. I will only be able to take a minimum amount of my wordly goods.
Yesterday I tried putting together a tent I was donated, but it really did not work out.
Poles do not match up to the teeny tiny little line drawing on the box. I do have a photo of how the final thing must look set up, but I reckon I will need the help of an engineeer, or a troop of Boy Scouts.
Well, no time to ponder that today. Onwards and upwards!

Wishing all my family and friends a blessed Christmas. Be healthy, happy and most of all SAFE. Watch those Christmas spirit's!

Taking a break from some heavy duty pruning of trees and shrubs.. Thankfully, I don't actually sweat per se, but my body is covered in a lady-like sheen.
Masking tape got my light-color pant legs tightly taped down, to try and stop ticks climbing up my legs, but having to traipse through grass that is two-foot high is a wee bit nerve wracking. This property is large and mostly wild, so snakes galore must be living here.
On the plus side, my right arm is not doing too badly after hoisting a heavy iron cutter for an hour, but tomorrow is another story!
Right now I am thinking ahead to the weekend and the week thereafter, as I have been 'gifted' with one large tent. I am thinking I may need a few though. Size is relative and I need a few rooms to live in, so I will happily put up a few tents if I can.
I can have a kitchen tent, a work tent, a lounge tent, a bathroom tent and a bedroom tent. Then there is stuff I need to store, so I definitely need to build a storage shed first, or save up to buy a shipping container.
Been gifted an electric geyser, gutters and probably have a rainwater tank too, but not sure how I fit gutters onto a tent. I am toying with the idea of making a geometric dome using poles and joining pieces in triangles, but that is another whole kettle of fish.
Have to find what will work over the frame as a 'skin'. Plastic does not breathe, so a waterproof canvas, but that will be expensive as all heck, so not really a viable 'cost-effective' option for me, unless I win some Lotto money, or get a wealthy boyfriend. LOL!
All I can do is take it one step at a time. First have to fix the site for all this camping and creation. Eish!
My clothes are sprayed with a nice smelling Sh'zen insect repellent

So I got up and got showered and dressed, so I could go see what help my neighbor needed.
Ended up with getting breakfast for us both and then sitting down with my laptop to update ads online, but all I want to do is close my eyes and nap.
Needless to say, methinks I will try get stuck into the manual labor of housework, plus do the cuttings and plantings a wee bit later. I have been moving in fast forward for the past few months now, so I need to try take some 'time out'.
Sometimes you just got to NOT DO, what you got to do!

I am no longer a landscaper running my own business. These days I am a full time creative care giver, so call me the “Constant Caregiver”, if you like. I needed to find something I could do from home - a product that I could export worldwide preferably!
It helps that I have a personal interest, so not just researching the nutritional deficits of folks with dementia, but also how it affects their vision and ultimately my design.
The 2018 designs onwards will be a lot simpler, with big colour contrast and large, or no patterns. Very little white and no reflective material. I will design the bulk of items for the visually impaired LO’s in red, orange and yellow to assist their vision.
Mom and I live on a farm in the country with two dogs and a cat and a nice big garden with the odd poisonous snakes. We have a big garden and a house and no help, so there is always something that needs to be done. Never a dull day!
My lovely mum still helps me make all kinds of fidget items, from aprons, blankets, cushions and quilts, plus the odd toddler’s activity blanket and I started calling us, “African Alzheimer Fidget Products” on sites such as Etsy.com, so we could stand out from the rest. Not to mention that I want to use African-style cotton prints called Schwe-Schwe cloth as they are so brightly coloured and have such strong patterns.
I love custom orders, but also designing new things all the time. My items look different to most as I rely mostly on donated materials from interior decorators due to lack of capital. All fidget blankets and quilts are padded for comfort and I try and ensure as many activity, sensory and stimulatory features as possible in each one.
We live by faith and I have learnt to take each day as it comes.
