Did you know that girls as young as 13–15 are encouraged to have their first gynaecology appointment?

Early visits aren’t about complicated exams - they’re about building trust, learning about their bodies, and having a safe space to ask questions. Topics often include periods, contraception, or any health concerns they (or their guardians) may have.

If you’re looking for a compassionate and caring gynaecologist in Richards Bay, Dr. Payal is here to support you and your family.💙

While period pain is common, it’s important to understand when it may need closer attention.

Dysmenorrhoea (the medical term for painful periods) can cause cramping, fatigue, and discomfort that affects daily routines.

Management is always guided by individual needs, and options range from simple self-care to medical support.

If menstrual pain is starting to affect your daily life, don’t hesitate to start the conversation.

Dr. Payal is here to listen and support you every step of the way.

Getting intense headaches before your period or around ovulation? It could be a menstrual migraine - often triggered by the natural drop in oestrogen during your cycle.

Common symptoms include:

→ Throbbing pain or dull ache
→ Light or sound sensitivity
→ Nausea or dizziness
→ Fatigue or mood changes

They can strike before, during, or mid-cycle. Treatment may include pain relief, migraine meds, hormone support, or lifestyle changes.

If they’re disrupting your life, Dr. Payal can help you find relief and understand your cycle better. ✨

A hysteroscopy is a gentle, quick procedure usually lasting between 5 to 30 minutes that allows your doctor to look inside your womb using a tiny camera.

You may be offered a local anaesthetic to numb the area, or general anaesthetic if treatment is needed or if you’d feel more comfortable being asleep during the procedure.

Recovery is usually fast. Many women feel ready to return to their usual routine the next day. Some light cramping or spotting is normal, and if you’ve had general anaesthesia, giving yourself a few days to rest is perfectly okay.

If you’ve been experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned, know that support is available to help you find answers and feel better. 💙

Short answer - sometimes.👀

Fraternal twins (two separate eggs, two separate s***m) can run in families, especially on the mother’s side. That’s because some women are genetically more likely to release more than one egg during ovulation.

Identical twins, on the other hand, happen completely by chance, and there's no known cause yet.

Other factors like age, previous pregnancies, and fertility treatments can also increase your chances of having twins.

Got more questions about pregnancy, fertility, or family planning? Dr. Payal is here to help.🫶🏽
