The Healing Power of Grounding

Feeling disconnected or stressed? It might be time to try grounding! Grounding, or earthing, is a simple practice that involves reconnecting with the Earth's natural energy. Whether you're walking barefoot on the grass, walking along the beach, or lying on the ground, grounding can help you feel more centered, reduce stress, and improve your overall well-being.

Here are a few benefits of grounding:

Reduces inflammation

Improves sleep quality

Boosts energy levels

Enhances mood and reduces stress

Restores balance

Here's how you can get started:

Go Barefoot: Walk on grass, sand, or soil for at least 20 minutes a day.

Use Grounding Mats: Perfect for when you're indoors.

Gardening: Get your hands dirty and feel the earth between your fingers.

If you are still not convinced watch The Earthing movie on you tube - it blew my mind!

Ready to reconnect with nature? Give it a try today and feel the difference! Share your grounding experiences with us in the comments below.

Pause to think about how pervasive plastics are in your life.

Recent studies have showing that we are no longer just using plastic, we are BECOMING plastic!

Tiny plastics particles as shown in this video are being found in all our important organs and our beautiful human body has a challenge dealing with this unnatural substance.

The health affects are thus far ranging depending on where these particles settle - from infertility and hormonal disruption, cardiovascular disease and increased cancer risk. What are you doing about this?

Firstly, you can avoid plastics as far as possible and then secondly, you really need a detoxification strategy which gives your body a chance to focus on eliminating what is not natural to it.

I have to say when I was first introduced to the idea of a 5 day water fast by Zach Bush, I thought it was absolute madness - seriously! But I was keen to give 3 days a go, but by the end of the three days, it seemed a waste to not continue - and the rest is history. The magical transformation I felt by the end of the 5 days was beyond my wildest imagination and so the idea was born to use this powerful process for further powerful work. My thinking was that to embark on such a transformative experience in an environment which supports you in every way possible would be the easiest way for others to come to experience this ""magic bullet' as I think of it.

Ever wondered how your diet affects your well-being? It's more than just what you eat – it's how your body functions and feels! Your diet plays a crucial role in providing essential nutrients, maintaining energy levels, and supporting overall health. However, periodic fasting or cleansing can offer additional benefits by giving your digestive system a break, promoting detoxification, and enhancing metabolic processes. Many find that occasional resets like a 5-day water fast can kickstart healthier habits, reduce cravings, and boost mental clarity, making it easier to maintain a balanced diet in the long run.

Considering a 5-Day Water Fast?

Here are a few benefits:

Cellular Repair: Kickstarts detox and cellular rejuvenation.
Weight Loss: Resets metabolism and reduces cravings.
Mental Focus: Enhances clarity and sharpens focus.
Immune Boost: Supports immunity through cleansing.
Physical improvement: Lack of soreness in joints

Mindfulness can help you stay present, reduce stress, and enhance your overall well-being. Here are 3 simple practices to bring more mindfulness into your daily routine:

Meditation- Sitting
This helps you connect with your inner self and observe your thoughts without judgment.
Sit comfortably on a chair or cushion with your back straight and feet flat on the floor.
Close your eyes and mouth and take a few deep breaths to settle in.
Focus on your breath, noticing the sensation of air entering and leaving your nose.
When thoughts arise, acknowledge them without judgment and gently bring your focus back to your breath.
You can use any simple mantra, like “calm” on the inhale and “peace” on the exhale Start with 5 minutes and gradually increase the duration as you feel more comfortable.

Conscious Breathing: This practice involves focusing your attention on your breath, allowing you to center yourself and find calm.

How to practice conscious breathing:
Find a comfortable place to sit or stand.
Close your eyes if you’re comfortable or keep a soft gaze.
Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling your lungs fill with air.
Exhale slowly through your nose, letting go of tension.
Continue this pattern, silently saying “in” as you breathe in and “out” as you breathe out. Do this for a few minutes, gradually increasing the time as you become more comfortable.

Walking Meditation: This practice combines the benefits of mindfulness with gentle movement, helping you stay present with each step.

How to practice walking meditation:

Choose a quiet place where you can walk slowly and undisturbed.
Stand still for a moment, taking a few deep breaths to center yourself.
Begin walking slowly, paying close attention to the sensation of your feet touching the ground.
Sync your breath with your steps, perhaps taking two steps for each inhale and three steps for each exhale.
Notice the sights, sounds, and smells around you without getting lost in them.Continue for as long as you like, gradually returning to your normal pace when ready.

Incorporating these mindfulness practices into your daily routine can help you find balance and peace amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Find Your Calm in Nature

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed. But nature has a beautiful way of calming our nervous system and restoring balance.

When you take a moment to step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature , your body and mind respond with tranquility and peace. Studies show that spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels, reduce anxiety, and improve overall well-being and rejuvenate your inner self.

Whether it's a walk in the park, a hike in the mountains, or simply sitting under a tree, connecting with nature helps us reset and find our inner calm.

Take a break, embrace the beauty around you, and let nature work its magic. Your nervous system will thank you.

Mindfulness is the art of being fully present and engaged with the world around us.

By embracing its core pillars, we can cultivate a more balanced, peaceful, and fulfilling life.

Let's have a look at the different pillars of mindfulness:

Non-judging: Let go of the habit of labeling your experiences as 'good' or 'bad'. Simply observe your thoughts and experiences without attaching judgments. This practice fosters a compassionate and open-minded perspective.

Patience: Understand that growth and change take time. Be patient with yourself and your journey. Mindfulness is a continuous practice, and every step forward is progress.

Beginner’s Mind: Approach each moment with a fresh perspective, as if you’re experiencing it for the first time. This openness encourages curiosity, wonder, and a deeper connection with life.

Trust: Develop trust in yourself and your intuition. Believe in your ability to navigate life’s challenges. Trust in the mindfulness process and its benefits for your overall well-being.

Non-striving: Focus on being rather than doing. Let go of the need to achieve or reach a particular outcome. Mindfulness is about embracing the present moment without striving for something more.

Acceptance: Embrace things as they are. Acknowledge your thoughts and feelings without trying to change them. Acceptance helps you find peace in the present moment and reduces the stress of resistance.

Letting Go: Release attachment to thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Letting go allows you to free yourself from negative patterns and create space for new, positive experiences.

Gratitude: Cultivate a sense of thankfulness for the present moment and all it encompasses. Gratitude enhances your overall sense of well-being and brings joy into your daily life.

Incorporate these pillars into your daily life, starting with small mindful practices.

Your journey towards a mindful life is a path to inner peace and fulfillment.

In the next few days we will be discussing a few mindfulness practices to try out and help you with your journey to inner peace.

Nature has always been our sanctuary, especially in moments of darkness. It's where we truly belong—not just as observers, but as integral parts of a greater whole. As Donna Ashworth beautifully writes, embracing nature isn't just a choice; it's a return to our roots, a path back to ourselves and inner peace:

There is a reason why walking amongst nature is most people’s best advice when depression strikes.
Because walking in nature is a return to ‘home’.

You are not a lover of nature, or a fan of nature, you ‘are’ nature.

You are as much nature as the trees in your garden and the bees on your picnic.

You were designed to live your days out in the wild with your fellow creatures and plants but progress, humanity, had different plans for us all.

And so we exist day-to-day, in our homes, but never ‘home’.

The quickest route back to self, to inner peace, is bare feet on grass, arms around trees, head in the clouds and heart in a forest.

Put your bones in water, whenever you can, smell each flower you see and crumble dirt between your tired-of-typing fingers.

You are nature, go home once in a while.

It will bring you much you didn’t even know you were missing.

~ Donna Ashworth
