You’re not the problem.

Ever heard of decision fatigue?

By the end of the day, you’ve already made thousands of decisions, so it’s no wonder something as simple as food starts to feel overwhelming.

It’s not the cooking.
It’s the deciding.

This week’s article is for the woman who feels weighed down by something that should feel simple.
And a gentler way forward.

Read it on Substack 🤍

You’re not bad at eating well, you’re just deciding too late.

For most women, their biggest struggle with food isn’t the cooking part.

It’s deciding what to cook at the end of a long day.

So they stop at the supermarket and grab something quick…
or eat whatever is easiest in the moment.

Not because they don’t care, but because they’re tired of making decisions.

And when you’re tired, you don’t make better choices,
you make easier ones.

This is exactly what I wrote about in my latest article, and why simple structure changes everything.

If you’re overwhelmed by the 30000-50000 choices in the supermarket, this one’s for you. You can find the link in my bio x

I hit burnout so hard I forgot how to make salad.

Most people assume chefs always know what to cook.
But when I was working on yachts in the Mediterranean, cooking 16-hour days for months…
But by the time I got home to South Africa I was so mentally depleted that I couldn’t even figure out how to make a salad.

No inspiration.
No energy.
No idea what to cook.

Turns out this is incredibly common.

Women who are capable in many areas of life (motherhood, work, relationships, finances etc) feel overwhelmed by the question:
“What should I cook today?”

I wrote a new Substack article about:
• 5 signs burnout is affecting your food choices
• why cooking suddenly feels harder than it should
• how gentle food structure can restore calm
If this sounds familiar, I think you’ll relate.

Eating well is surprisingly simple. 🌱

Hi, I’m Judy-Lee.

I’m a consumer scientist, chef and the creator of The Structured Nourishment Method™.

Over the past decade I’ve worked in many high-performance environments. Somewhere along the way I became fascinated by the same struggle I kept hearing again and again:

Decisions around food have become overwhelming for capable women.

They’ve asked me:
• What should I eat?
• How can I make it healthy?
• How do I cook?
• How can I do this quickly?

That’s where decision fatigue creeps in.

They’re carrying so much mental load that food becomes just one more decision.

I write about calm, structured ways of eating for women who quite frankly have no more hoots to give about what to make for dinner.

LOW-CAPACITY LUNCH 🥑

This is the kind of lunch I make when I don’t feel like cooking or planning.

Avocado on sourdough toast with feta and chilli crisp.
A sliced tomato with olive oil, balsamic, salt and pepper. 🍅

5 ingredients (+ a few condiments)

Done.

When you’re tired or burnt out, the goal isn’t perfection.
It’s **removing friction around food** so you still eat something satisfying.

I talk a lot about this idea of calm food structure in my Substack, especially for women who feel like cooking has become difficult or overwhelming.

If that resonates, the link is in my bio.
