A beautiful mindfulness practice is doing a colour walk, especially in this lovely in-between-season-time. Look for red first and open your root chakra as you do. Then seek out orange and go for opening your sacral chakra, repeat with yellow. Go for green in a special walk and seek out all the different shades of green you can see, as you open your heart chakra... deliberately. Of course you don't have to stop there, you can go for blue, indigo and violet too. Personally I love doing one chakra at a time, I find it's enough for my mind to focus on. Focus is the aim of the game, so over cluttering is counter-productive. Enjoy!

🌍 World Sexual Health Day: A Call for Sexual Justice 🌍

Today we shine a light on an often-overlooked truth: without sexual justice, no one can truly thrive.

Sexual justice means the right to make safe, informed choices about our bodies and sexuality β€” free from discrimination, violence, or shame. It’s about dignity, consent, and access to care for all.

While progress has been made, injustices like gender-based violence, stigma, and exclusion persist β€” here in South Africa and across the globe. Change starts with us:
βœ” See humanity first
βœ” Challenge bias
βœ” Speak out against disrespect
βœ” Prioritize consent
βœ” Respect autonomy

✨ Small, everyday actions create ripples that transform lives.

Let’s stand together β€” fierce, compassionate, and committed β€” because everyone deserves a world where sexuality is respected, celebrated, and protected.

"Tell me, what is it you
plan to do with your one
wild and precious life?"
~ Mary Oliver
The lines from this poem by Mary Oliver is such an invitation. It comes with a big kick and a hard nudge. Don't let the days slip on by, don't waste time on complaining and comparing. This day is yours! I'm grateful for the reminder from Mary Oliver! Slow down and choose wisely for today!

β€œI claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.” β€” Mahatma Gandhi
This is humility at its best. Inspiring and worthy of the deepest respect, especially because he didn’t just say it, he lived it. And look at what he achieved in his life.

Time in nature always reminds us that we are just a spec in the great big cosmos.
While it's not good to diminish ourselves unkindly, remembering that our lives are transient is helpful.
In the big scale of things we are not that important, whoever we are.
Keeping this front of mind can help to reduce the pressure we put on ourselves to be significant and thereby reduce the strain on our mental health.

Strengthening your quadriceps is one of the most health enhancing strategies there is. When our leg muscles are weak, our balance is thrown and we can't walk around on steady legs.

Use every chance you get to lunge, sqautt, stand up from a low chair without your hands (or using your neck to help you), and sit down really slowly and without your hands and climb stairs without the hand rail.

Remember good form is crucial: Your knee needs to track your second toe and never goes over your toes to protect the front of your knee joint. Enjoy your lovely strong legs!

I saw a patient this week from Malawi. This business man had suffered a huge health setback and lost his trust in his body and strength. The outcome to his health was disastrous. He had never been able to reclaim his confidence in his ability to heal and be well, to be strong and powerful and it showed. His posture was slumped, his energy was down. His mind was filled with "what if's". The more he felt he was frail, the more frail he became. The more he doubted his strength, the more his strength was eroded. I was sad to see how his posture, his gait, his energy and his wellbeing were all showing the results of his struggles. I am happy to say that after just 2 sessions he looks different and feels totally different! I am now working with his wife, son and cousin.

Have you thought about how you sit at your desk? how much strain are you placing unnecessarily on your spine and neck? here are my top 3 tips for reducing the strain your sitting creates for you:

1. Tilt your pelvis downwards so your whole perineum (space between your legs) is on the chair
and you have a good arch in your lower back. Get it right from the bottom first.

2. Lift your monitor so its at eye ball height. Never work on a laptop without getting a stand and
separating your keyboard from the screen.

3. Set your cell phone timer if your watch isnt set to ping you and get up every hour. walk a bit,
arch your back, stretch your neck and arms and oil and grease your joints.

In this Women's Day week, I am advocating for practicing your "no". Especially if you identify as a woman, it is a way to be one of the strong and adventurous women the world needs. You can't say a real "yes" until you can say a hard "NO"... why is it so hard?
Check in with yourself and when you know it's a "no," don't say "maybe" and definitely dont say "yes". Try on being clear and firm and using an assertive "no" when you need to.
I spend a lot of time, helping people to find their voice and their assertive part as well as treating the results in the body of not being able to say no effectively, be that stress, overwhelm, exhaustion or trauma. It sounds easier than it is.

It’s all about baby steps. Just take one and assess the outcome.
