😩 Struggling with students who are impulsive, distracted, or off-track in class? You're not alone.

📚 Self-regulation skills like planning, peer interaction, and routine-following are essential—but many kids need help developing them.

✅ The Student Self-Regulation Rubrics make it easier to identify areas of need and track progress.

🧠 Research shows students with strong self-regulation perform better socially and academically. Let’s build those skills together!

Core strength is so important for the development of the muscles in the trunk, including the abdominals, back, hips, and pelvis, which are essential for postural stability, balance, and coordination. These foundational skills support a wide range of daily activities and functional tasks in children, such as handwriting, self-care, gross motor play, and sitting at a desk.

Why Emotional Regulation in Children is Vital

In today's fast-paced and emotionally complex world, teaching children how to understand and manage their emotions is more than just helpful—it's essential.

Emotional regulation helps children:

• Build resilience in the face of challenges
• Communicate needs and feelings effectively
• Form healthy relationships with peers and adults
• Improve focus and academic performance
• Reduce anxiety, frustration, and behavioural outbursts

When children can name their emotions and choose appropriate responses, they feel more in control, confident, and connected.

As educators and caregivers, we are their emotional role models. Let’s make emotional intelligence part of everyday learning.

New items arriving in Umhlanga soon.

“Children who are taught to regulate their emotions don’t just do better in school—they do better in life.”

Here is anorher fun activity to do with your child during the holiday break.

Bring the soothing ocean vibes home with this mesmerizing Sea in a Bottle Sensory Bottle! Perfect for relaxation or playtime!
Ingredients:
- One lightweight plastic bottle
- Water
- Blue food coloring
- Clear plastic gemstones or glass pebbles
- Silver glitter
- Small sea shells
- Silver star sequins
- Clear hair gel

Directions:
1. Start by adding your clear gemstones and small sea shells to the bottle for that beachy feel.
2. Fill the bottle about three-quarters full with water, then drop in a splash of blue food coloring to mimic those gorgeous ocean waves.
3. Sprinkle in a tablespoon of sparkly silver glitter and toss in a handful of star sequins to create that twinkling sea surface!
4. Secure the lid tightly with glue or tape to prevent any spills during your sensory exploration.
5. For an extra mesmerizing effect, stir in some clear hair gel and warm water to slow down the motion of your ocean when you shake it.
Enjoy the calming waves (and sensory fun) in your very own Sea in a Bottle!
