I recently listened to a sermon by Frieda Van Den Heever: “Houvas aan laat gaan.”
It stayed with me.

Holding on makes me feel safe -
but holding on to letting go…
𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗶𝘁?

Letting go is rarely just about the physical.
It’s emotional.
Spiritual.
Layered with meaning and memory.

Watching Johannes run where I once did… playing in the red soil, building and breaking sand formations - the way only little boys do.👣

It stirred memories of what I loved most about growing up on our farm:
The freedom.
The openness.
Die vlaktes.
And the simple joy of riding on the back of a plaas bakkie. 🚜

There’s a quiet sadness - knowing he won’t know the vastness, the space to roam, the still rhythm of farm life.
The red Kalahari sand.

But the silver lining? I’m thankful he won’t have to leave for hostel at 6 years old, like I once did.

Three generations.

Implements, tools, even the stroller I once lay in as a baby - now laid out for strangers to bid on.

It wasn’t easy to watch.
It felt like pieces of our family’s story being scattered.

But I keep reminding myself:
✨ Memories live in me, not in things.
✨ What we leave behind is not objects, but the way we lived and the way we loved.

🌾 August is Women’s Month, and this year, I’ve chosen to honour it by being raw and real.

This month, my business page might look a little different. I’m sharing some personal reflections as my family and I say goodbye to the land I grew up on - the farm that shaped me, grounded me, and taught me so much about resilience and roots.

In a world that often expects us to separate our personal and professional lives, I believe there’s strength in integration. My work in skin, makeup, and hair has always been about more than just looking polished - it’s about holding space for women to feel seen, valued, and heard.

So this month, I’m inviting you into my story - the heart behind it. Because being a woman, being human, is layered. It’s goodbye and growth, grief and grace. And it’s okay for all of it to live in the same space.💛🧡

Some days, I don’t pick up a brush or comb a brow. On those days, I’m doing something else, maybe something even more important.

I’m being the best cheerleader I can be, not just for my clients, but for the people who are close to my heart.❤️

Every morning on the school run, we play the song 'Cheerleader' as loudly as we can. And yes, the lyrics are questionable, but the message? I want my boy to always know: I’m in his corner and his biggest fan. Loudly.

And every afternoon at 5pm, the dance floor opens: “Op die boer liedjie, Mamma!” Shoes off. "Toer op die vloer met 'n boer"!💃🏻 Laughter, hair down en ek kry darem so bietjie two-step in!😅
