Questions I ask myself as a therapist...

Am I truly being productive and adding value… or am I just busy?🤷‍♀️

It’s easy to hide behind a full schedule, endless admin, and back-to-back sessions and feel like we’re doing enough. But busy doesn’t always mean efficient. In this field, efficiency matters — for our clients, and for ourselves.❤️🫶

I’m learning to pause and ask:

Is this moving the needle? Is this helping someone grow? Or am I just filling time? ⏲️ ⏳️ 🕐

Because real impact isn’t found in how full our days are but rather in what actually changes because we showed up.💪😎

There’s so much more to therapy than what happens in a session...

Behind every therapist & patient is a human navigating emotions, boundaries, and purpose.🫶✨️

Let’s normalize honest conversations about the realities of therapeutic environments. 💬 🗨

These are my non-negotiables—the hills I would die on as a pediatric speech therapist. 🏔️

Therapy isn’t just what happens in a session. It’s about daily practice, parent involvement, child-led care, transparency, teamwork, and empowering children to be their most authentic selves.

I believe in guiding, supporting, and collaborating, not fixing. Every child deserves to thrive, not just to meet a goal. 💛

Which of these principles resonates with you the most?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Stop forcing children into boxes where they don't belong.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Stop forcing children into boxes where they don't belong.

I just hate that so much of our world is designed to push kids into dysregulation, just for them to have to climb back out, only to be pushed back in again.

It’s not healthy for our kids’ brains and bodies to live this way.

This is survival mode. It should be a last resort. Not an every day experience.

So what should we do??

Take a look at kids’ daily schedules and try to look for patterns. What is causing them to become dysregulated during the day. And can we minimize that or eliminate it completely?

What are they missing from their day that they need? What is calming and regulating for them that is being skipped over?

Now this is just the tip of the iceberg.

But I believe asking those TWO questions can make a massive difference in a child’s daily regulation.

P.S. I have a training and workbook on how to create a Daily Regulation Plan…

If ya want me to send it over to you so that you can come up with a customized plan for your clients (or your own child if you’re a parent), comment LINK & I’ll send it over to you 👇🏻

168 hours in a week…most kids spend an hour a week (sometimes less, sometimes more) with a speech therapist.

We’re not there the other 167 hours! ⏳

Someone’s gotta be trained in what we’re working on in speech therapy.

For some kids, having parents sit in the sessions works great.

For other families, they might sit out because it’s their preference or maybe their child focuses better without their caregivers present.

BUT - in all cases, whether a caregiver is sitting in the session or not, training and keeping families up to date with everything that’s happening in therapy is a critical step in making progress.

I’ve been coaching parents in therapy sessions for over 15 years, and have come up with a very effective framework for parent coaching. 💪🏻

Want to learn my parent coaching framework?
